It is possible to make a cop almost impervious to a knife wound in a normal attack, granted I doubt the police would want to wear the kit all the time but it aught to be in the car for when its needed
Hey AFC, I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of stab proof clothing other than chain mail like guys that dive with sharks have or this other stuff called “dragon skin”. From what I recall that dragon skin stuff was made of ceramic rings and was quite heavy, it also was not bullet resistant.

As to the video, there is the film from the other cops camera which shows the guy with the knife screaming 'kill me kill me' while running at the officer that went down, he had the knife to his throat and yet didnt stab him, he then decided to grab the cops gun, at which point they shot him.

It looked pretty clear the guy wanted to get shoot more than anything else
Honest question for you, you’ve lived in Europe as well as NA. Do you find that there are more instances of violence in NA vs Europe?

Its common in the UK, its a variation on kevlar vests but you can get a full coat made of it as it doesnt need the bullet proof capability

"Hold on sir, I have to put my stab proof body suit on. Please stop advancing with the knife".

An Edmonton cop was also stabbed here a couple of years ago after getting smoked by a car. Saved his own life by fighting the guy off before he ran away.

well I think the idea is you put the gear on before you get to the incident so you are prepared, now there would be times when a policeman was ambushed or just walked into something bad but if you have a situation like the one we're talking about the cops know full well they are dealing with a man with a knife, there is no reason they couldnt put on a full stab proof body suit before heading in to disarm the guy

Surely it isnt beyond the bounds of possibility that the cops could just copy what jails do on a daily basis all over the US and Canada?

I’ve got full coverage Kevlar snake chaps but don’t know how they’d deal with knives. I can’t cut them.

There are snake resistant socks too. Apparently made out of the same material used to repel needle sticks.
