I heard a rumour that I will not get into the substance of but if true would definitely cause a fracture between teammates and friends.

This isn’t a celebrity gossip site and I like to think that most people that frequent this forum don’t care about that stuff.
Well when "What's wrong with Gaudreau?" is the biggest question about this season, suddenly off ice behaviour is something in the back of many of our minds don't you think?

I understand why we don't get into specifics but to pretend nobody cares about it is a joke when most of us here are wondering what the heck happened to #13.

I won’t get into the rumour because it is just that and don’t want it as a point for people to joke about.

I want to know the purpose of your posts. Why you saw the need to post what you did.

A certain segment of the fanbase attends every game. That was me in the 02-04 era.
A certain segment of the fanbase attends the occasional game. That's me these days, think I've been to 4 or 5 this year maybe?
Some fans attend no games or almost no games for various reason (live in a different city, can't afford, don't want to spend, etc.)

Some fans go the games and barely pay attention as they chat or whatever
Some fans go to the games and get blitzed
Some fans go sober

The observations one can gather will vary based on live vs TV. They will vary based on how inebriated one is or how closely one is paying attention.

It's just interesting to think about when we have disagreements about our own analysis of the team. Not every fan sees things the same way partially because we're not viewing the game in the same way. I think this leads to some of the disagreements we have on this board. But who knows.

I was trying to point out something TV viewers may miss that it's much easier to see live. Wasn't an indictment on TV viewers. I'm not trying to call them 2nd rate fans. Most of the games I watch are on TV/computer. But I can see WAY more of what's happening when I go live.

But spin it into an insult if you want. Obviously you can read whatever you want into my comment. I was merely trying to make a point that sometimes on TV you miss line changes and why we're fiddling around in our own zone instead of executing a quick transition. Obviously it doesn't explain all the differences between last season and this one, nor was it meant to.

Well considering the title of the thread.......... could be a reason he doesn’t seem to be in the same frame of mind this year. The thread is about what could be wrong this year.

I hope he does get his mojo back. But I also don't think it matters at this point. He needs to be traded this summer for the benefit of the Flames. Think 'sell high'. I think there's very little chance that he signs his free agent contract here and I'm not sure we'd want him to anyway. He may accumulate points in the regular season but will continue to be a non factor in the playoffs. If we can get a player that can replace some of his regular season points but doesn't wilt when the going gets tough that would be the goal.

Maybe not, but I have been curious as to how the Flames manage nutrition and off season training. We seem to often start off slow (someone can correct me) in games and seasons, and first round losses have been a common theme as well.

I really would like to know how the Flames manage this compared to Chicago or Pittsburgh, teams that have had longer championship runs.

I don't think so. But waiting any longer than this summer and you're right. He's had one bad year. GM's will look beyond that and think it is just an off year and that they can help him be a 100 point guy again.

Sad, but I think it's time for the two parties to split. I'll bet Johnny does a Savard or St. Louis, but BT has to do something. Flames are too deep into this cycle to take a step back after last year. Contracts, player ages, all that stuff is starting to catch up to us. Flames have to do better than missing playoffs or a first round sweep. They have to contend this year and for 2-3 more (max) before an inevitable rebuild.

Maybe we are like the Kings before they won it all, or Boston. We need a big reload the gun hockey trade to fix things. I want this team to really go for it and fix the roster so that it is clear this season that this team wants a Cup soon.

I'd rather have BT really take matters into his own hands and do something dramatic to fix the team as opposed to his replacement or worse a Feaster style interim guy. I hate the radio guys saying decide based on the teams' performance come deadline. #### that!

Pre-empt that media circus and fix the team ASAP if that's possible.

This should not be a selling team. But if BT decides it is, be ruthless and get rid of Johnny for a ton of magic beans and extend that sentiment to other guys too; Moneyhands and Gio. Certainly any non core player.
