A certain segment of the fanbase attends every game. That was me in the 02-04 era.
A certain segment of the fanbase attends the occasional game. That's me these days, think I've been to 4 or 5 this year maybe?
Some fans attend no games or almost no games for various reason (live in a different city, can't afford, don't want to spend, etc.)
Some fans go the games and barely pay attention as they chat or whatever
Some fans go to the games and get blitzed
Some fans go sober
The observations one can gather will vary based on live vs TV. They will vary based on how inebriated one is or how closely one is paying attention.
It's just interesting to think about when we have disagreements about our own analysis of the team. Not every fan sees things the same way partially because we're not viewing the game in the same way. I think this leads to some of the disagreements we have on this board. But who knows.
I was trying to point out something TV viewers may miss that it's much easier to see live. Wasn't an indictment on TV viewers. I'm not trying to call them 2nd rate fans. Most of the games I watch are on TV/computer. But I can see WAY more of what's happening when I go live.
But spin it into an insult if you want. Obviously you can read whatever you want into my comment. I was merely trying to make a point that sometimes on TV you miss line changes and why we're fiddling around in our own zone instead of executing a quick transition. Obviously it doesn't explain all the differences between last season and this one, nor was it meant to.
