It's almost as if there is no jovial or fraternal emotions around the team's best players at all.

Well one positive is no Flames took a penalty. Another is they hit the not on more shots then usual and have more shots... so there's a chance.

Lindholm has much more natural talent than Eat Bread. Eat Bread digs in every shift and plays hard, so maybe I just see it in the light of him having to work his ass off to keep up. He's not a better player, he just gives a very consistent 'I want to score' attitude on every shift.
Just my opinion.

Their chances so far have looked more dangerous than the first period against the Sharks

No disagreement from me on that. But are you going to sell him in a low when the team as a whole is underperforming? Pretty clear to me that Ward isn’t the answer, so I’d be inclined to wait. But that could mean keeping Johnny until next season which isn’t ideal either. I’d like to see them accelerate the coaching change if at all possible.

This year has been a complete disaster.

coaching aside, he needs a Ferland type to play with and give him confidence. Someone fast, dangerous on the forecheck, who can really snipe from outside.
Backlund nor Robinson were never that guy.

Part of his value is his current contract. I'm not saying trade him now - but trade him this summer with 2 years left of really good $.
If you don't, the low could get lower if his performance doesn't turn and the amount of term remaining shrinks.
This summer.
It must be done.

The problem is that if he continues to play as poorly as he is but you keep him while waiting to see his value go up and he continues to be bad then you are just throwing away a lot of time.
I think he still has some value, but if he continues like this the Flames have no choice. He has been really bad for about a year and it doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon. Just gotta hope there's a team or two this summer that will pay a premium to get him, hoping the Johnny from 1.5 - 2 years is still in there somewhere.

Team seems fractured. Scary to think shipping out problem pieces and bringing in new players may not fix the problem. No escaping the coaches blender.

The only issue with waiting 30 more games until the summer is that the interested teams get to watch him 30 more times.

He was playing at a very high level with Lindholm until he just... wasn’t.
He used to make everyone around him better. The team as it stands is built on the premise that he can carry a line, which hasn’t been the case this year. If we need to find a certain type of player to play with him that’s a problem in my mind.

Don’t disagree with any of this either. I think a couple things can be true at once:
1. Johnny has been playing bad for a year, and it may be time to trade him.
2. His value could be further eroded if the whole team continues to underperform under a substandard coach.
