Pelletier would’ve been a huge upgrade on most of the Canadian forwards. He was a big loss.

Oh boy, hate to see that. That could be the tournament for Canada.

Officially one of the worst games in recent memory at this tournament

Looks like Canada enjoyed the Czech Republic nightlife too much last night.

Time to get gritty. The refs let the Russians get away with murder and set the tone. Knock a few chiclets outs.

The Russians are tougher though I think, so getting physical would just add more pain to a tough day.

The thing is, Canada's team this year is just... not very good. They have Barrett Hayton, who's fine, and Bowen Byram, who is an amazing skater. Joe Veleno is pretty okay and Dylan Cozens is very good. They had Lafreniere, but he's probably done for the tourney after that injury. And... that's pretty much it.

Then you look at the USA and it's a freaking murderer's row of high-end talent, even though they're missing last year's first overall pick. Russia plays like a men's team. Sweden, as usual, has basically no weaknesses, and is playing in the weaker group.

This is just not a good year for Canada to do very much at this tournament. The team is thin at every position.

Painful to listen to

The key focus of Canada is going to be the health of Lafreniere. (Huh? Focus on something you can’t do anything about)

And look at Drysdale. He kicked the puck to a teammate. He won’t last long in the draft.

Gatorade. Rehydrate, replenish, refuel.

Excruciating

The disparity in skill is remarkable between the two teams.
