Meanwhile Lucic manhandled multiple Avalanche players, and immediately stood up for a teammate after a cheapshot. That's honestly not something we've seen much from this team for years. Lomberg last year going after Dumba comes to mind. Even Brouwer jumped somebody (Dustin Brown?) to stand up for Gio.
I loved seeing that from Lucic, not to mention his strong boardwork and actual hockey sense.
|
Yep. I think we’re going to be a lot happier with Lucic than we were with Neal.

It's hard to get too down on a player that tries to make a difference. That's not something we saw from Neal.

I'm actually weirdly feeling ok about most of that game. Other than the first period I thought the Flames had some very solid spells of play, and most guys played reasonably well, outside of a few. I see the Flames still being a pretty strong force in the conference after the initial rust shakes off.
I am a Lucic believer now. Him smacking around Zadarov was so good. Great to have him on the team.
Oh yeah, and the reffing will be making me pull my hair out all season. The NHL has no idea what its doing regarding officiating.

Of course he would clear waivers. Very few teams have cap space for his salary.

Lucic did more that game than Neal did all season.
Great trade.

You can stand up for him, but fighting isn’t as prevalent in the NHL as it was, so as a result guys are going to get those extra whacks. You can go talk to (the offenders) but at the end of the day if a guy on the other team that’s giving him a whack doesn’t want to fight you’re not going to be able to fight him.”

Nah Troy.
You can still punch him in the face.

Not one to complain about refs. Usually evens out over course of a season.
But that puck knocked down with a high stick that led to the 2nd goal. How can four officials not notice the puck flying through the air to then suddenly ricochet down at landeskog’s feet?

What's the redeeming quality the 05-17 Ducks and the current Avs have which forces the Flames to play safe and act like they're too scared to play against them? Ugh.

He played James Neal lazy, and in game 1 that's pretty telling. I can understand mistakes made if you're over zealous, but lazy game 1?

Lucic fighting changed the game, Avs played a lot smaller after that. We just couldn’t capitalize
Also Lucic for Zadorov is a good trade off

You're telling me it's his fault the flames lost in the playoffs? Or he was a detrimental part of their season at +24 and a .5 ppg? I'd like more talent on the second line too but I'm not going to overreact to one game and act likes he's not a useful nhl player. Hopefully someone in the bottom 6 can step up and replace him but until then I like what 3M brings.

One game makes a season???
I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he has some games under his belt and we can make fair judgement of his play.
