He's still managed to have a better camp than Noah Hanifin for instance. His game against the Jets was a strong one.
I have a completely different recollection of Wotherspoon. My view was that he was awful in camps which prevented him from winning a spot. The one year he looked great in a call up, then hit camp and completely dropped the ball.

I think MacDonald has been solid this preseason and is perfectly suited for bottom pairing. kylington is not ready yet, let him play big minutes in Stockton. I think him and Reider who Peters gushes about are going to get a contract now.

Sounds like Rinaldo is indeed going to sign a 2 way deal.

This will be interesting to watch, but they’ll have to be making the minimum for the Flames to have interest.

I could see us looking at anyone making a million or less.

Not surprised. He was beyond underwhelming at camp. I was pulling for him to make it but he just doesn’t have it.

I really thought DSP had the best shot out of the PTOs. Disappointment.

I never thought Worherspoon was particularily good in Camp, but he had at least one or two where he showed more than MacDonald has shown.

Perhaps but he wasn't competing with MacDonald in those camps. He needed to be better than the guys he was competing with.

The narrative with Wotherspoon every camp seemed to be management and the coaches wanting him to play with some edge and earn a spot. He always played soft instead and was a routine disappointment.

I thought he was amazing... In the sense that you rarely if ever see a PTO with so little effort. Never looked like he wanted to be here.

I recall reading that they wanted him more aggressive all around, not just physically. He was a guy that would start to make an aggressive move and then second guess himself and it would leave him neither making the play/hit or being in proper position.

Yeah let me clarify, I thought that very early on, before we saw the suck.

Yeah he played training camp and pre-season games like he was a vet just getting into game shape. That's death if you're competing as a prospect.

Yeah I agree with you.

DSP looked on paper like a guy we could use. Rieder looked redundant, like more of what we have and not better than options we already had.

It's a good thing they had these try-outs.

I quite like seeing Rieder in our roster now.

Only reason I would be ok with MacDonald signing is if he is a veteran leader in Stockton and 8th on the depth chart for the flames.
