Avs don't look so fast when other team hangs on to the puck for a while.

Avs are afraid to take a pass. Sharks are suffocating them with forecheck and win all the board battles.

Makar just bailed on a play to avoid a hit. And this is just game 1.

Smith and Jones have been very good in goal, unexpectedly.
Sharks best players won it tonight

Ehh if the series was 2-0 Sharks then I'd believe the narrative that the Avs are no good, but not at 1-0.

Goes to show how much of the series was Calgary not showing up and how much of it "ZOMG Avs Soo good"
Flames beat themselves. Colorado did not become the Harlem Globetrotters

Not sure who to cheer for, or more appropriately, against. Going in I thought I'd cheer for the Avs, because of all the drama with the Sharks and Flames this season. I just caught the third tonight, and enjoyed seeing the Avs losing and ineffective.

Man, I can't believe the Flames just folded up the tent and died against that Avs team. They clearly aren't as good as they looked in round 1, and the Sharks will probably win this series in 6 or less.
What's really sad is that I believe the Flames are a better overall team than the Sharks, and could have definitely beaten Colorado had they actually bothered to show up and bring their A game. So damn frustrating.

Avs will see in game 2 that the Sharks are not the Flames... Sharks top players are WILLING to do what it takes to win... they're not going to cower in the fetal position like the Flames did

It’s one game. I don’t know how anyone can conclude anything about who showed whom what, nor what is destined to happen after one game.

Member when the Fslmes opened their series against the Avs with a 4-0 win?? I member. Then they stomped all over us.
Getting all serious about a game 1 loss for the avs makes yall look silly.

They lost confidence.
This bled into every aspect of their game. The
Officiating was a joke, but it reinvigorated the mental fragility they frequently displayed under Gulutzan.
Without confidence as a team they lost trust in each other and they were no longer able to take the play at the Avs & get them on their heals with physicality, with skill, with speed, or with puck possession, but most of all, they were unable to execute & convert scoring chances, then then got discouraged.
Hopefully they learned about the attention to detail required in the playoffs and something about resilience and the ability to overcome adversity.

This game was a pretty good indication to me that the Flames just slumped while the Avs peaked. What team doesnt have a stretches of games where they're disjointed and can't find their groove, while also getting stretches where they can't be stopped? The Avs got the latter while the Flames got the former. It happened to coincide catastrophically for the Flames. We'll have a better idea after game 2, but it definitely seemed like the Avs are headed back to Earth.
Makes me wonder if Treliving should err towards not overreacting from the series.
