I think youth and lack of playoff experience bit the flames in the end. I agree Peters was out coached. It was a great season and at least the Flames weren't swept. That being said, I think the 4-0 victory in Game 1 won't the Avs up and the Flames didn't have a response.

I thought this year was going to be different.
As a Flames fan, I'm not sure why

Jesus, 1 assist from Gaudreau in the series. Staggering.

Well with us and Tampa it pretty much confirms skilled small/soft forwards and dmen are not built for the playoffs.
Zadorov and Cole were better than all our dmen. We should have never let Engelland leave.

A rare glimpse as a Flames fan of a successful team will always be shrouded in disappointment until a Flames team plays with some balls.

Sorry that they have driven you to this.

A team must earn its AC videos though.

We need a heavier top 6. Plain and simple.

Get ready for Las Vagas winning next round in 5. Flames crumpled when it mattered, Vegas won’t.

Avs poor cycle and reliance on stretch pass will be exposed. That says more about the Flames than anything. Own it Flames sitting at home and seeing a real team shut down a pop gun team.

I was at the dome today and it was more disappointing than 1994 when I saw Bure in person score that goal as a kid.

Totally disappointing and I hope the Flames learn. Next year is prove it to me.

One thing is apparent it's tough to compete with these lottery ball teams. Oilers not included.

It's a team game on the management side as well.

The organizational pressure to get Neal going was irresistible for the Flames coaching staff in much the same way it was for the previous flames coaching staff and Brouwer.

Neal should've been sat after game 2, but there is no way in hell that was going to happen with the organizational imperative to find some silver lining for that signing. it's my belief that Neal playing or well or not has jobs hanging in the balance.

It became undeniable that he needed to be sat after he essentially blew the game for the team in game 4. At that point, they are in 'do anything to save the season' mode and it became justifiable to sit him.

But by then it was too late.

Friedman was right..........you need to team that wins to get you in the playoffs, but you really need a team that actually wins in the playoffs.

I don't doubt the Flames could have another good regular season next year, but Tre needs to tweak the lineup to bring in guys that will actually be hard to play against. This year's team was just way too soft to win playoff games. I knew they were soft, but I had no idea they would fold like they did.

Johnny Gaudreau's last nine playoff games, at even-strength:

9 GP, 0 goals, 1 assist, 1 point, minus-6.

I don't care about excuses. "He gets no calls," whatever. He does not perform, and he has not performed.

That is an inexcusable level of ineffectiveness.

Outside of wasting money tonight, you nailed it for me too.
Not going to waste time next year watching these losers cower in the corner when the going gets tough.

McDavid, MacKinnon and Matthews all went to the wrong teams.

What have you done, ping pong balls?

This, this is why the city never seemed to embrace the first place juggernaut that we saw for almost all of the regular season. Because we knew deep down that they would wind up serving us a huge dish of disappointment eventually.

Same old Flames.
