People getting a little over panicked about what’s going on out there. Don’t get me wrong, I really wish the number 1 was clicking, they still are off and they need to get going before the playoffs start.

But outside of that, way too much concern being placed on what’s happening in these games considering this is a team with very little to play for right now. People commenting about a lack of desperation, yah no ####, this team isn’t despatate and that’s a good thing. They are home and clear for the playoffs, basically home and clear for home ice in round one and things haven’t been that tight recently for first. It’s got to be hard right now for the Flames not to be thinking to April 10th and staying healthy. Fair 1st is very important and I’m sure they want that but with a six point lead, also hard for that to cause a tone of desperation I’m sure.

I don’t disagree with what we keep hearing from the coach, focus on habits. And IMO tonight has been the first game in the last 9 where they haven’t been the better team. They haven’t been world beaters in the last 9, but again I’m sure it’s hard to feel the desperation required to be and they’ve been steady. 6-3 in the last 9 and tonight is the first of the 3 losses where I didn’t think they deserved better.

First line needs to get going, but otherwise no issue with how this 1st place team has been trending to the playoffs. Fans on here are looking to validate their worst fears about the playoffs being a type of game the Flames can’t play. There’s nothing more “playoffs” about the last few weeks other than we run into a few teams playing with playoff desperation (like tonight) but we aren’t in the same situation so there’s no way for us to summon the same desperation. So let’s stop evaluating how the Flames will do in the playoffs until this version of the Flames finally gets to play a playoff game.

One team played like a team that's clinched the playoffs already and one team played like a team that hasn't.

Not reading much into this one.

Rant over.

Reframe it. Put it in perspective.

They are in the playoffs, and don’t have the same desperation of teams that are fighting for their playoff lives.

They are scratching a guy who has sported a deluxe moustache but who would be playing if it mattered.

Don’t let yourself care about the individual battle more than the team cares about the war.

Neal looked awful tonight, I don't know what you saw. He was floating and looked consistently out of position. It might have been better than his usual efforts as a Flame but he still looked unacceptably atrocious. For me, that's been his mantra all season.

I'm not going to pretend to know how this season is supposed to finish, so I'll buckle my seatbelt and wait for the inevitable roller coaster.

I think this team misses Sam Bennett. Nobody has any jam up front except Hathaway, and they can't sustain any momentum. And if anyone is expecting James Neal to flip a switch, it's not happening. At least he tried to finish a couple of checks against he boards, so baby steps I guess.

Monahan actually had to do some work along the boards tonight, instead of just moving around to get ready for a pass from Johnny. Hope it gets him more engaged but my expectations are low.

Hey, at least our goaltender didn't pull a groin tonight... that's a good thing, right?!?

Meh. It’s the stars. We never play them well.

Just TCB over the next week and it’s fine

Stepping back from the team when they’re a legit contender for the first time in 10 years or so and playoffs start in a few weeks?

Although I suppose if you can’t handle a few losses late in the season when they have first in the conference pretty much locked up, then yeah you might want to reevaluate.

Just look at the standings. Playoff hockey incoming. We can expect to win at least a series, and who knows from there.

That should make you feel better?

I didn't even watch Iginla at his true peak, but even in his slumps I never saw him as totally disengaged as Monahan, Neal, and Lindholm look right now. They are on a completely different planet than the rest of the team.

We aren’t beating Vegas in a 7 game series or at least we’d be the first ever legitimate conference winning underdog.

Everyone will relax around here once we clinch the pacific

Yeah. Stay the hell away from the dome this year. Especially during playoffs.

Vegas loses, Flames clinch home ice in the first round.

Honestly, if we just beat the sharks in regulation and win one other game, we clinch the division. Rattle off the next two and then rest.

Oh no, even at his peak, Invisiginla made appearances.

Especially at the start of seasons

not really buying the notion they lost because they punched their ticket.

if that's the case, that's the wrong mindset.

Calgary has a lot to keep fighting for - keeping a lead over SJ should be front and center.

you want to go into the playoffs on a roll... this team isn't so blessed in talent that they can flip the switch anytime they want to

For the last 2 games I've hung my Flames flag from the front of my garage with pride. Next game it's not going out.

Blame the loss on me.
