Big time. I hope Peters runs with Ritter for a while. We need him to be dialed in and confident heading toward the playoffs

Rittich is also the only one of the two goalies to win a game v. VGK. This feels like a very natural way to write up the schedule.

Has a team ever gone all the way rotating their goalies in and out? With respect to Flames history, I think they somewhat did that in 1980 with Riggin and Lemelin, making it to the semis. Probably a rather analogous goaltending situation.
|
In 2003 the Minnesota Wild went three rounds rotating between Manny Fernandez and Dwayne Roloson.

This doesn't include the large amount of games he has been reported to be playing "through" injuries. As much I would like him to play a heavier game as the poster I replied to noted, I don't want to risk the performance of our number 1 sniper for it. It sucks he's one dimensional but he's very good at that one dimension and I wouldn't want to jeopardize that.

It's time that some of you had a serious look at Gaudreau. He's turned into a puck hog who doesn't make the pass before it's knocked off his stick. He's not making those great passes. At least Monahan is playing in the defensive zone which is more than you can say for Gaudreau. The opposition has learned that if you pressure Gaudreau he'll screw up. I'd like to see Bennett moved to the first line and Gaudreau on the third line.

I don't believe the number of games this has occurred is all that large beyond last year.

Fingers crossed for Rittich to show us he should be the number one and hoping the team plays the right way in front of him!

Nothing would reduce the stress level of the average fan than Rittich just claiming the damn job and running with it for the next two months +

I don't disagree with the first part; I think he's playing like that because he sees his line struggle, and is trying to force plays and make things happen instead of letting it come naturally.
Johnny on the 3rd line though?

Rumour has it they were trying to figure out why there was a tiger in their room.
Also had to return a baby.

So you're saying he should be playing a heavier game because his injury history is not a concern? If so fair enough. Just clarifying, as I feel like one detail was taken out of the context of the discussion I was having which was more to do with the style of game we believe Monahan should be playing.

You're going to move Johnny with his 84 points in 66 games and replace him with Bennett and his 20ish points?
And it's moot anyways. Whichever line Johnny is on is the 1st line by default, as the other team will line match Johnny's line with their top shutdown line. So it's not demoting Johnny if you split him up with Monahan, it's demoting Mony.

Sportselect Info
Flames Win = 2.6
OT = 3.6
Vegas Wins = 1.95
Over 6.5 = 1.95
Under 6.5 = 1.5
First game in a while where we've been the underdog but its understandable given the Flames haven't yet won in this rink and MAF is coming off back to back shutouts. Hopefully the recent trend of outplaying the other team and getting stonewalled by their goalie ends tonight and the good guys can eke out a 3-2 OT win. GFG!

So much this. If Rittich lets in another softie or two en route to another multi-goal loss then I think I'll just have to take a break from Flames hockey for awhile

Hoping to see a big bounce back from CGY. As Peters and Gio have stated they just need to clean up a few things. Should be a great performance by CGY tonight!
