I think one thing that works against Hedman is that Kucherov is winning the Hart.

The Man probably doesn’t want two major trophies going to the same club.

Having said that, it would take an Act of God for Gio not to win the Norris regardless of which trophy goes where.

I just can’t quite recall a dman who has dominated both ends of the ice like Gio has since Lidstroms string of Norris’ and I frankly believe Gios season is more impressive than Kucherovs.

There shouldn't even be a discussion. Gio should just be a mortal lock. Who has their best season at age 35? It's downright ridiculous the year he is having.

My fear is that all those so-called expert idiots who live in the east will vote for Reilly, because the media just can't get enough of the Leafs. I'm more fearful of him than Hedman in the voting. TB is just too solid top to bottom for Hedman to be a standout candidate.

From what I hear from eastern media is that Reilley isn’t a serious contender anymore. It’s between Hedman and Gio as I understand it.

Doesn't Hedman also receive favorable ice match-ups like Burns and Karlsson? I don't believe he faces quite the same high quality match-ups as Gio does.

Can't see the case for Hedman over Gio. Gio has 20 more points and is +39 compared to +24.

Yeah I wasn’t sure Gio would get the votes before. But I am now.

It’s his.

I'm obviously biased, but it offends me that they say the Norris race is "Tighter than ever" (Giggity)

When you actually do a bit of a dive on stats, consistency etc etc. It really isn't close.

Another thing I find that's a bit lost in the great story that is Giordano this year, is that he's been damn good for a long time. In some corners his season is being treated as a bit of a one off. He was in the race a few years ago until that bicep injury. He was excellent the past two years, but his offensive stats were muted by having to play for Gulutzan. He's doing the same things he has for a number of years, but finally the fanfare and numbers are there too.

I hate comparing him to Lidstrom, because that guy was one of the best ever. But the similarities are hard to ignore as far as recognition goes.

It would be absolutely criminal if Gio doesn't win the Norris.

I think Gio just isn't a sexy name to a lot of fans and media across the league. He plays in a small Canadian market and isn't young and flashy. It seems media as well as we fans have been guilty of overrating prospects in the current rebuild culture, fawning over every new young star to the point you can forget there are some really good players in this league that are playing at elite levels into their 30's. The McDavid hoopla for example has been so over the top that young fans may think he's the greatest player to ever lace up a pair of skates.

But he did say Gio would probably get the Canada +western votes.
It pisses me off that journalists who are considered qualified to vote on the Norris don't have the professionalism to watch all the teams in the league play. In this era of on-demand streaming, that's inexcusable.
