I said it in the GT and I’ll say it again here:

We need to get stronger in front of our own net. Our young guys have not yet fully developed physically and they are light still. It’s amazing, the number of times we just bounce off the opposition.

It’s not to take anything away from the young guys’ effort, but if we could get one more rugged two-way forward and get Stone back healthy on D, it could go a long way to helping solve some of these issues heading into the playoffs...

Having said all this, it was awesome to see the team push back against the Pens cheap/rough BS after the whistle. Major props to Andersson for dropping the gloves!

Happy with the win, but disappointed that they almost blew it.
Rough second? They outscored the pens 4-1

He was sub .900 in save precentage, had clear issues tracking the puck and battling through traffic, had zero rebound control, made a couple bad plays handling the puck, and as the game went on started flopping all over. His recent play is at best average, which luckily for this team is good enough many nights.
This is a terrible take.

Smith was fine tonight. Sure he was below .900 sv% but I don’t really think any of the goals were weak. He probably could have had the Malkin shot but you give a guy like Malkin that much time he’s going to score. Smith was perfect 5-on-5 (I don’t count the goal that happened 2 seconds after the power play ended).

Agree the PK was bad, but when you look at the talent of that Pens team (even moreso on special teams) and overall im okay with it.

4th game of a tough 4 game road trip. Came away with 4 out of 8. Gutsy win to end the trip. I am happy.

I'm not generally very critical of the officiating but those were some very weak and suspect calls today. Glad the Flames were able to hang on for the win.

The PK is a "stylistic" thing I suspect from the coaching staff....they just don't go after the puck handler at all but play off a few feet and keep their box for the most part. I'd prefer that, when it's close enough, at least a guy goes for the puck - at the very least this forces a play. At best it forces a puck control loss for the PP.
I thought a couple of their PKs were going great, right up until they scored. And it's hard to say the Crosby goal with Ryan stickless was a bad PK.

Been impressed with Smith his last two starts. Not only wins, but ones where he's made some very difficult saves at big times. Hopefully he can keep it rolling and both goalies can be hot going into the playoffs.

1st line and Tkachuk have been bad. Johnny trying to do it all himself.

Yep. I won’t jump on the “Smith was amazing!” bandwagon, but he did everything he had to do to win the game. Smith has put together two very solid games in a row, and was the best goalie on the ice today - and no matter what else happens - that’s Smith’s job. Be the best goalie on the ice. Mission accomplished.

If the old man can keep this up from here on out, we’ll be pretty dang pleased as fans.
