I wonder if this whole thread is a genius ploy by the OP to generate conversation on the internet to be used as bad publicity against the tire shop? I agree with the general consensus that we need to see pics of these tires` tread. I'd also like to see a scan of the service agreement.

The tire tread and service agreement are irrelevant. A shop can’t take a car off the road by refusing to return it to its owner due to mechanical fitness issues. They can call the police and that’s it.

I get the feeling we are missing some really big pieces here. I'm not about to jump on a Kal Tire boycott bandwagon based on what we have. If you want fire and pitchforks, we need facts!

I agree 100 percent.
I have dealt with shady garages in the past, but to much info is missing right now.
I also don't understand why the op can't put the spare tire on and drive the car away?
Gullfoss, if you want an army to come to your aid we need a lot more facts.
I would love to expose a corrupt company taking advantage of a customer. Yet we need details.

Doesn't provide anymore information on this incident, but I can say the people at Kal Tire in North Red Deer are awesome. I wouldn't go anywhere else for tires.
