Now is the time to buy high on Reaves, some decent playoff exposure, he should be able to get someone to overpay him. Reaves is going to be 32 this season, probably looking for a retirement contract, which could really set Ryan up longterm.

It's called common sense. You think every FA is getting dinner with management before signing? Not sure why you would do it for a 13th forward

I can't believe that after the SCF we just watched tough guys are still being questioned. Yeah, much rather have the butter soft Lazar there scoring his 2 friggen goals
How can people still be this stuck in the stone age?

Reaves played all of 10 games in the playoffs and goons really aren't deployed much in the playoffs to begin with.

I think the point was how do you know they were having dinner and had that level of management at said dinner?

Cause he read the original post in this thread that the rumour is based on?

It's all unconfirmed rumour though.

I hope you aren't serious unless you want to add a prospect or a high pick.

Martin has 2 more years at a caphit of 2.5 million per (final year actual pay 1.75 million)

Brouwer has 2 more year at a caphit and actual payout of 4.5 million per.

Martin is 29. Brouwer 32.

Last season Brouwer played 76 games and had 6 goals and 16 assists. Avg icetime of 13:56 a game PLUS 1:14 of PP time per game (5 assists coming of the PP)

Martin played 50 games and had 3 goals and 9 assists avg icetime of 7:59 a game and no PP time.

So Brouwer played 26 more games than Martin. Averaged 6 more minutes a game than Martin. And averaged more than a minute of PP time a game. And he managed to score 3 more goals and 7 more assists.

Maybe he's trying to woo management?

Here's the season by season point totals for the teams Reaves has been on the last 7 seasons:

109
60 (103 pro rated)
111
109
107
99
100 /109

Those teams were definitely stuck in the stone age being totally held back by Ryan Reaves.

Reaves was traded for twice this past season. Both teams were expecting to contend for the cup when they did.

This argument doesn't make any sense.

I never said Ryan Reaves holds back a team from being good. I mean, he can if we sign him for 3+ years for $2 million+, but I'm not insinuating that Reaves brings an entire team down. That shouldn't be the basis for whether or not a player is a worthwhile acquisition for a team.

Vegas was good before they added Reaves, and they were good after. There are some bad players on some really good teams in this league. Does that mean we should go out and acquire them? Because they have been on good teams in the past?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. No players are overpaid more than role players on teams that go deep into the playoffs. You can bet it will be even less lucrative if that player is a 31 year old enforcer.

I am expecting an Engelland like announcement to the signing:

McKenzie announces a $ figure and years.

Everyone: Oh that must be the total value of his contract.

McKenzie: Nope that is the AAV

Potentially a troll, though he does have history posting on r/calgaryflames

Mike Pfeil @mikeFAIL
Tiberi from FN is going through his commenting history and got the [####posting] vibe immediately.
I mean, I could be wrong and we're all doomed buuuut if the team wanted to prove how wrong they are, this would definitely be it.

I've always been pro-fighting, but with all the stories (Boynton, Carcillo etc), research and data coming out in the last few years I've turned against it - it has no place in any sport. These goons are turned in to mentally ill persons, not by choice, but by expectation.

Can Reaves play? Not good enough, his sole reason here is to hurt, hit and fight. Hence I don't want a player like that anywhere.

I'm for Reaves because there are some teams that still have those types, especially certain teams in our own division. Reaves, like all fighters will eventually go away, but they are still around and I'd rather have a deterrent like that on our side. When it comes time for playoffs, guys like Engelland and Reaves show their value. They might be marginal guys for the regular season, but they become extremely important when it matters.

Don’t just stop at reaves, go get Tom Wilson too. Not gonna see Johnny get hacked again. Other teams should be worrying about keeping their heads up

I hate it when people say this. Reaves DID NOT get traded for a first round draft pick. He got traded to move up 20 spots in the draft. Pens traded pick #31 to the Blues for pick #51 and Reaves.
