I think Dube could play in the NHL, but i'd rather he go to the AHL and continue to develop his offensive skills. Work on his shooting, get stronger. There's really no need to rush him with all the depth on the roster. And it won't hurt him at all to marinate a bit, in fact, it will probably be better for him long term.
It's true he will likely be in the AHL or he wouldn't be a dark horse in my eyes. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see him outplay a few of our depth players slated for NHL spots. If that happens you may still send him to the AHL but it's not a guarantee.

It's true. I was commenting only from a talent perspective.

Valimaki is the best d prospect ive watched at one of these camps. Poised defensively. Just looks solid and confident out there.

Dan just said that the coaches are giving more of an effort than the players. Have to agree there. Very enthusiastic group.

After seeing Bennett and Lazar fail to take the next step (i.e. offensively) after being immediately thrust into the NHL, I would take the slow-cooker approach with Dube (especially with our current roster of forwards). It will be tough for him to crack the opening day lineup (i.e. for a 9 game stint) but if he scores a bunch during preseason he might make a case for being the first top-9 call-up.

Yeah, I read somewhere someone who watched him lots in Europe compared his play to Byron. Skates fast and is tenacious/relentless.

You could just as easily say that going straight to the NHL was very beneficial for Monahan, Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

Every player is an individual and should be handled as such.

Thank you so much for the updates. Really helps when I can’t go myself to watch because I’m working today...in a different province...

I work everyday... or every day in a different province. So I thank everyone that posts pics/videos/updates with all these development/training camps.
