There was a piece for the outdoor game they played that waxed on about the saucer pass karlsson did to Hoffman a year ago in the playoffs and they didn't seem to me to be quite as complimentary as guys usually are about their teammates.

Perhaps I'm just projecting but I remember at the time it feeling a little off.

I still want him on the Flames. Hes a good hockey player and that’s all I care about. His nutbag girlfriend is none of my business, and if this is all true I’m willing to bet he dumps her anyways.

Also hilarious how many people are now writing him off before we know all the facts.

Get ‘er done Tre.

I dont think anyone is writing Hoffman off, as in that he'd never play in the league again or anything, we dont even know half the facts, let alone all of them.

But in a roundabout way, his girlfriend is a problem. Team dynamic is incredibly important for overall success.

Further, as much as is being made about 'crazy women' or men for that matter, have you ever dated a partner, be they a man or a woman, that was totally crazy?

Its very distracting from your everyday life. Not a good fit for an intense lifestyle as a pro-athlete.

Management has made a concerted effort to get people that fit the mold that they feel is important, and even if hes a really good hockey player, sometimes thats not worth it.

wow... that might be the craziest ##### i have ever heard...

hope its not true... really awful story if it turns out Hoffman's wife has been stalking EK's wife and sending her harassing tweets etc.

not sure Calgary would want that kind of distraction; if she did do it, crazy doesn't cure itself and it makes you wonder if the Senators cratered this year because of that finally blowing up

Hoffman needs to pull a Melnyk and tell her he wants to shop at a different grocery store.

Shame on her for these disgusting tweets

Shame on Hoffman for standing behind someone like this

Lastly, shame on the Sens for not firing Hoffman into the sun and moving him for anything before this comes out. They’ve ruined their relationship with their franchise defenceman by not dealing with this.

Horrible, nasty situation that highlights the nasty side of human nature.

Hope the Karlssons find themselves a fresh start. Hope Hoffman enjoys his last contract in the NHL and better learn Russian as he is KHL bound.

I think this is unnecessarily harsh on Hoffman.

If you were told your mother or your wife or anybody you loved did any of those things, but they denied it, would you not believe them just the same?

People need to calm down.

NBA Philly's GM Bryan Colangelo, just resigned last week due to a similar situation...

people who make repeated online threats need to understand that the internet isn't this complete black hole... throw sufficient money and resources at the problem and chances are they will find enough evidence to prove you are guilty as charged.

Not good. Sounds like things have been brewing behind the scenes for a while.

Yeah, public opinion and all that, but Hammond's wife wasn't "surprised" by the accusations and Turris' wife supporting Karlsson for standing up for herself. Not exactly a great outlook for Hoffman's GF.

And it sounds like on the Senators board there was a lot of rumours around Hoffman (beyond the trade rumours) over the last couple months that he isn't the absolutely greatest guy in the world either.

Hoffman and Caryk have been together for 10 years. So those who say "just dump her" are thinking rather wishfully.

This is crazy.
I didn't want Hoffman before, and I really don't want him now with this kind of baggage.

I realize Matt Stajan probably won't be back with the Flames next season, but a lot of his teammates will be. Stajan was beloved in that room, and went through the loss of a child. Not sure a guy like Hoffman would blend in well.

Chances are these two share similar personality traits. If these allegations are true and she has questionable character, than there's a good chance so does Hoffman.
