We're getting a bit off topic here but I think I'd keep Gaudreau & Monahan together...
Tkachuk-Tavares-Ferland
Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
Jankowski-Backlund-Frolik
... that's a heck of a forward rotation

I also think we see King retire sooner than later. Would not be surprised if in the next month or so.

When Cherry is gone that panel is gone. Coaches Corner doesn't survive Cherry.

I haven't watched Coaches Corner for years. I find Ron MacLean more articulate than Cherry. All Cherry does is rant on and on with his neanderthal views. CBC is better off hosting a panel of experts who can talk about the plays in-depth. Don Cherry now sounds like a Donald Trump and that's how I saw Burke as well.

I think Hrudy's take will replace coaches corner.

A little off topic but if Hamonic and Tavares are best friends and having Hamonic in Calgary helps lure Tavares, does the Hamonic trade all of a sudden become incredibly one-sided in the flames favor regardless of what pick the Islanders get?
Tre was often called a wizard around here and then the Hamonic deal had many question him. Perhaps the wizard had been looking for an angle to get Tavares prior to the Hamonic deal. (I truly don't believe that but it would be comical to see his most questionable trade become the one that cements a top tier team in Calgary with Tavares).

Not sure if retiring, but definitely stepping back. Although for unfortunate personal reasons that I won't disclose until they are made public by him.

I mean.. its so unlikely as you've alluded to for all the right reasons...
However if by that 1/10,000,000 chance this lands us JT at the end of the day then Brad is easily the best GM in the NHL hands down and just made the biggest wizard play in the history of the NHL in my opinion. That would truly be astonishing.

No. If the Flames pick wins the draft lotto it's a clear loss even if Tavares were to sign here. #1 overall on an ELC + subsequent RFA leverage... Tavares is great but any realistic contract he signs doesn't have that kind of value.

Please stop putting Ferland on the top line he is a 3rd line winger on a good team. Rene Bourque 2.0

Best of luck to Burke!
If you are right, then I want to be notified everytime you and Sureloss post on here.
Tavares would be so amazing!
To make cap room, trade Frolik for 2nd+3rd round picks. Brouwer buyout. Then trade Bennett for a 1st round pick. Calgary will all of a sudden have their picks back.
Tkachuk-Tavares-???
Gaudreau-Monahan-???
Ferland-Backlund-???
Hathaway-Shore-???
You also have Brodie as a trading chip to get another winger.

Burke did well here. No issues with him in his role. Not sad he is leaving but wouldn’t have had issue if he remained. All the best
