I hope the players read this PGT and see how dissatisfied fans are in them. Should maybe help to drive the point home

Calgary’s powerplay has gone completely dormant when things matter the most. In their last 11 games, they’re 1/33 (3.0%).
#Flames are 3-7-1 over that stretch.
|
Yet Cameron is still employed by the Flames. I swear if they are still around for next season.

Flames want you to fork over hundreds of millions to build a shiny new rink for these boys to play in.

Doesn't look like the team wants to throw the coaches a life-preserver.
A lot of it is on the players, going to be a tall task for BT to find the right fit that these guys will respond to.

Ha! Who do we have that can stand up to the Ducks? Did you forget how last year's playoffs went?

Didn't watch.
Had a great evening.
Will rinse and repeat for the remainder of the season.
See you all at either the Gulutzan firing press conference, or the torch & pitchfork mass buy.

Ferland has been awful since he scored 20 goals. Has become a complete non-factor. Team needs an upgrade to to the top 6 in the worst way. Both Ferland and Frolik are not top 6 players.

What a terrible season to build an arena debate.
"We need a new building to perform better" - Well prove you can do it first before we hand over the keys.

Isles looking at a couple top 10 picks if this free fall continues. It’s gonna hurt so much when they select Brady Tkachuk with our pick.

2 goals in his last 25 games. Brutal if he wants to become a top 6 winger in this league.

I don't understand why Treliving doesn't do anything about this. It's his job do get rid of a guy if needed.

I’m not a saying Hartley should be coach but he showed that these players can work hard when the right buttons are pushed. So I can lay everything at the coach.... it’s the only major difference from the team we saw a couple years ago.
|
Expectations. The difference is expectations and how you respond. I don’t think these guys are tough. They were the comeback kids under heartley, yes. But they had no pressure. These guys cannot respond to expectations and pressure.

That’s just it though!! This is basically the same “never count them out” core that played under Hartley. When Hartley was here, they never quit, they had a year or two of piss poor goaltending but they always fought hard.

Once it happens enough times you start second-guessing everything you're doing, or questioning whether it's even worth doing in the first place.
Good teams don't just weather the storm when times are tough, but they also make the most of it when they're going well. It's a lot easier to absorb a soft goal when a 20-shot first period ends at 3-0 instead of 1-0. For whatever reason we can't convert stretches of good play into scoring goals. I think the coaching is the primary culprit, but to me our lack of finish is at the root of everything. IMO "winning culture" is just a label that gets retroactively applied to teams that win, rather than something you can create that then helps you win.
|
The team gets deflated when they face adversity. Much of that is on the coaching staff for not calling timeouts to keep the players focused on the game plan. Then there's players not being used properly at certain times.
Then there the players who panic and stray away from the game plan pushing too much and creating turnovers for the opposition teams. The mental toughness seems to be missing this year and they have appeared fragile for most of the season. Maybe it's a lack of confidence in the game plan or maybe they've become snake bitten and have fallen into the "here we go again" syndrome.
