BU is playing in the NCAA Tournament this weekend. If they can make it to the National Final, Arizona won't be able to burn a contract year on him.
Is this his final year is what I should of asked. Cannhe go UFA this summer if he wants?

And skating. His skating works at the level he's at, but he's going to get torched in the NHL due to his lack of quickness and overall speed. He doesn't have the reach to make up for his lack of quickness.

Honestly, I'm surprised so many people are dying to sign him right away. He's far from a finished product. He has some amazing attributes, but he has a handful of significant deficiencies. He's not NHL ready, regardless of what the stats say. He's probably AHL ready, but needs at least 1 or 2 years to work on his game to become NHL ready. Why not just let him do that in the NCAA? It worked for Jankowski.

I think the last few days, as small as they were, the still had Playoffs in the cross hairs. I don't think is would have been smart to throw him in the last few games. With where the team is now, I can see them start pushing to sign him. Let him stay in school until the end of March and you still have a week in April where he can get into a game one of the three games to burn that year.

Hell I expect either Dube or Valimaki to get a game since their teams are going head to head in the first round of the playoffs.

Bottom line, there is a ton of time. The Flames last game is on the 7th, which is a Saturday. With Classes going on till near the end of April. That would be the target date to try and get him to play. It isn't like there is a whole lot to negotiate being an ELC. All they need is a signature.

That's fine. Gear up for a Hobey Baker season next year.

Now, next year, that's when we can really start to worry if he doesn't sign.

Yeah...with the potential pressure on Treliving to make the playoffs next year, and with all the other assets closer and available to help us right now (Valimaki, Kylington, Andersson) my guess is that Fox may get moved.

Not sure Flames would come out on top of any trade involving him though

Would not surprise me at all to see Fox used as a trade chip for a forward this off season. It's not dire, but every season he went back was going to drastically increase the chance he waits out for a dream scenario of being a highly touted free agent.

He's just one season from having that chance with this decision, Brad is likely leaving it open but getting closer to cashing in now.

Well with him going back it gives Flames options. He could be a good trade piece to help bring in forward help that both have a contract, and are still relatively young (not over peak years).

If a offer comes along that can help the Flames now and down the road, could be smart move to trade him. Got other defensive prospects that it makes him expendable. Normally I would prefer to hold on to him, and he may end up signing next year or year after with Flames still, but Flames need to be more aggressive since the window to take advantage of the core pieces on the roster is now and closing.

I think it would be wise for the Flames to explore trading him. If he comes back next year and says he's going back for a final year at Harvard, his value plummets.

I say take advantage of it now before it's too late. Just an unfortunate position to be in.

Full quote from Adam Fox, returning to Harvard next season: “The #Flames have been really good with my development and with helping me get better along the way. But for right now, just staying and focusing on school and hockey, that’s my focus.”
