Was at the game, had a great time and a few comments:

-EK looked completely checked out. Predictably turned the puck over under pressure, wasn't skating as soon as he got possession like what made him so successful. No fire in his game whatsoever, I imagine he's got nothing much to play for at this point.
-Stajan had a swell game. Commented before his goal that he certainly doesn't look like a player on the way out of his career, and then he got a beauty. Again, not sure what EK was doing on that play, though.
-Tkachuk is so good at winning board battles, and the whole team knows it. They just throw the puck along the boards to him in any circumstance.
-Bennett had some drive, but back to his one-man-show business on the rush. His vision really didn't seem like a centre's vision, glad he's on the wing now.
-Top line generated a lot of chances. Not used to seeing Mony miss so many shots though. I take JG for granted...what a player, especially with his size. Wish he would trust his shot more on the breakaway though.

-ugh.
His laziness and decision making on the GWG was terrible to leave the middle of the ice to move towards and already covered JG and leave Stajan and the middle of the ice wide open.

(An Elston cartoon from those days depicts a player standing over a dead opponent, smoking gun in hand, and yelling at the referee that it can't be a penalty because this is overtime.)

Try that now, and you'd be playing two men short most of the time.
Badger Bob instructed Sheehy to trash talk with Gretz at every opportunity. The goal was to distract and get Gretz off his game. For the most part it worked.

Great win!
Ottawa battled but you can tell why they are where they are in the standings.
Tons of unconverted chances for the Flames which kept the Sens hanging around.
I’m kind of glad we play the Islanders next (who have an outside chance of making it still) because I’m not a fan of playing these loose teams that have nothing to play for anymore

The hysteria crew and fire gully crowd don’t bother to post because their narrative isn’t supported by the result

I can still have fun watching wins and STILL wanting Gulutzan fired along with Cameron. There's a time and place for such things.

Fact is, the Flames have pulled up their boot straps on this road trip and got 5 of 6 available points. it's good, but tougher tests are to come. I hope they take this momentum and punch their way through to the post season. Doesn't mean Gully is a saviour though.

I saw some of this, but I also saw an equal number of plays where he made a good pass only for it to die on Hathaway's (usually) or Jankowski's (occasionally) stick. It's easy to see why he'd try that. Also sometimes a low-percentage move is a completely fine decision if there's nothing developing and I didn't have a problem with any of Bennett's attempts. The idea was there, just not the execution.

I like Hathaway and think he should stay in the line up but probably on the 4th line.

But yes it would be nice to put some skill and a finisher with Janko and Bennett. With Bennett seemingly having the same impact on lw or rw, maybe they should move him to the rw with Janko and have Mangiapane on their lw.
