Hughes been impressive in the world cup, i wonder if his stock has risen.
I wonder if a team will pick him up in the 3-4 range.
Dahlin,Sve,Zadina,Hughes,Boqvist,Wahlstrom,Tkachuk ,Dobson,Bouchard.

If you are Ottawa do you give up a chance on the Hughes lottery next year or do you give up one of that group above?
Different pick for Ottawa or Colorado?
Or do both look for puck moving defensemen?

Found this site while I decided to look up some players from the 2018 and was trying to look for the best way. This is a great website:

I want a 5-15 pick now so we can draft Evan Boucher.
I admit, I haven't seen him, and I don't know squat about him except he's a right handed Dman who put up 25 goals and 87 points in 67 games in his draft year.
Who does that as a Dman in his draft year?
Those are incredible numbers for a FORWARD in their draft year.
What in flying ####? Why isn't he rated higher? He's 6'2 and 190lbs. He's not small.
WANT. ...and I don't care that we already have Hamilton, Hamonic, Stone, Andersson and Fox already in the system as RHD.
Why did I have to go and look at 2018 draft eligible top prospects? WHY?
Haha

Yeah, but he's undersized with apparent attitude issues.
What's wrong with Bouchard? Those kind of numbers and that kind of a frame, you'd think he'd have been talked about more and closer to a top 5 pick.

Yeah Bouchard’s #’s are bonkers, I don’t know exactly what his problems are but they’ve got to be pretty big for him not to be a lock for top 5 haha
For the Flames picks though, there’s only two players that I am excited about that might fall that far, Toni Utunen and Bulat Shafigullin.
I’ll be really sad when they both go in the 90s.

Knock on Bouchard is his skating from what I have heard. Seems to be average. With the talk of the new age puck moving defencemen, emphasis seems to be on above average skaters in that position. Not saying he’s a bad prospect, just passing along what I’ve heard.

I doubt it will impact his draft position at all. Keep in mind that even the third overall pick isn't any kind of guarantee of a player making the jump right to the NHL.
Only the top-2 players drafted last year played full seasons in the NHL. From the 2016 Draft, Tkachuk played a full season from the #6 spot, but the players who went 3 through 5 didn't.
You have to go back to 2009 to (Duchene) to find a third overall pick who played the entire season following his draft in the NHL.

2012 Alex Galchenyuk was a 3rd overall who went straight to the NHL. Remember that was the lockout year, and that is why he had some OHL games in September-December.

Egor Sokolov is an interesting name for a later pick. Big RS who can shoot the puck. 2nd in team scoring at Cape Breton as a draft eligible. Should be in our range to draft.

One thing I think we need more of is elite skating forwards. It looks like our core going forward is going to include Monahan and Tkachuk. They get around the ice ok but they both definitely benefit when playing with faster players. In that regard I was hoping for a guy like Liam Foudy but it looks like he's shot a long way up some lists.
Does anyone have an idea who the elite skaters are at forward that may be available for the Flames?

Interesting interview with the Hurricanes’ new VP of Hockey Operations...really seems to like Tkachuk
Quote:
Krepelka: The one kid up there other than the defensemen has potential to do that. You have another kid in (Brady) Tkachuk who brings another element to the team that you need. The likelihood I would think of moving it is unlikely, but it’s not out of the question. It’s not 100 percent it’s not being dealt. Everything is open for business down here. If it makes sense and betters the team in the short and long term than it’s something that will be considered for sure.
CC: If you want to be harder to play against, a Tkachuk always fits that mold.
Krepelka: He’s going to help any team. He’s the type of guy this organization needs and doesn’t have. That style of player and skill and grit. The way he plays. There are some options at two. My guess is they would keep it. We’re listening. We’ll entertain anything.

Have been reading a lot up on him since a lot of places have canucks takimg him, and a few canucks writers have said the team likes him
His skating is a bit above average, but not great like boqvist, Hughes, or dobson
He does have a great breakout pass though and iq, which are supposed to be his best qualities
Assuming the top 3 goes as expected i think the canucks order at 7 is most likely
Hughes
Wahlstrom
Tkachuk
Bouchard

Draft Pick
|
I posted in the LWOS thread, but there are some players in the later rounds that I think would be really good picks for Calgary. I think there could be a lot of talent in the later rounds of the draft this year, and that Calgary could make out with some players with high potential.
Aidan Dudas. A younger and smaller right handed forward who went from scoring 8 goals and 21 points last season to 31 goals and 65 points this season. Very quick on his feet and credited by coaches for playing in the hard areas of the ice. I have my fingers crossed that because of his size, he will fall to the 4th round.
http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/201...draft-rankings
Joey Keane. He is an overager, born in July of 99. It looks like he had a difficult first year in the OHL, coming from the USHL. This season, he improved drastically. His plus/minus was excellent, and Dale Hawerchuk (Barrie's coach) had some really good things to say about him and his progression. Skating both forwards and backwards are strengths, he has good offensive instincts, and he always looks for the easy/simple play, which translates better to the NHL game.
https://simcoereview.com/keane-showing-hes-got-game/
Paul Cotter. He had a good season and a strong playoff in the USHL this year. Skating, acceleration and speed are his strengths and he looks to be committed to playing at the University of Western Michigan.
https://www.nhl.com/news/ushl-nhl-to...ed/c-294837436
Ryan Chyzowski. He comes from a hockey family and he won the Medicine Hat Tiger's most improved player award this year. Skating again is an asset, and from what I've read, he seems to have a strong work ethic.
http://www.dubnetwork.ca/interviews/...yan-chyzowski/
Austin Wong. This guy plays with an edge and had a ton of PIMs in the AJHL this year to go along with a high point total. In the NHL, that edge has to be very controlled, but I like the idea of drafting a player who is difficult to play against. He is committed to Harvard and may be playing alongside Adam Fox next year.
https://www.cochraneeagle.com/articl...rvard-20171026
Xavier Bernard, Merrick Rippon, Linus Nyman and Cedric Desruisseaux are also player's I've been trying to read about. I don't know enough about the European leagues and draft eligible players to really research there much, and I am very interested to see who the Flames select this year at the draft.
