Lol of course Kane throws the big forecheck hit that causes the sharks game tying goal. Remenda about to start crying about the non-call mind you

He didn't look great immediately, but was laughing later on. The cage probably saved him, it was nasty.

Team has too many muckers and grinders, not enough skilled finishers. We outshoot teams constantly, we’re top 10 in shots, top 5 in corsi and generate considerably more scoring chances than our opponents and yet, we’re one of the lowest scoring teams in the playoff race.
We often make backups look like Vezina Trophy candidates. Luckily we have 1 player who’s generating enough points to be in the Art Ross race, but he ultimately skews the numbers.
Not sure why management is so in love with their plugs and actively seeking them, but if we miss the playoffs, these guys can definitely start evaluating their staff on what exactly made them so excited in acquiring guys like Brouwer, Lazar and etc.
I’m sure prospects like Hunter Smith and Keegan Kanzig are ready to step in and help us become the offensive juggernauts they hoped we could be.

So everyone who thought this whole experiment of moving Bennett off the first line was wrong...
Probably a different game if he’s up on the top line generating chances like they were all third period.
Missed opportunity.
And it comes down to poor coaching and a decision to break up the chemistry that Bennett Johnny and monny had going to test a waiver wire acquisition
Great ####ing coaching dip####

imo they should be increasing the drafting of skilled players, because the the defensive ledger is pretty stocked whereas the offensive side is not
side note: man, we need to get lucky with an Eric Staal type UFA signing... guy has found the fountain of youth in minny

Generally I think there has been more focus on skill. Even the dmen they have drafted have been skilled - Fox, Vallimaki, Kylington, Andersson are all skill guys. I agree though they need to re-stock the forward group.
But it also seem quite obvious that based on the organizational blueline strength that the best opportunity to address the most pressing need is by trading from that group for a skilled RW. And I think that's a deal they will find in the summer.

It's not the only reason, sure. But IMO it was definitely a contributing factor. Our bottom-9 all out-possessed the Stars all night, but didn't generate a lot of offense. That's been their M.O. all season - it shouldn't surprise anyone at this point in the year. We rely heavily on our top line to score a disproportionate amount of our goals, and neutering them for 2/3rds of the game takes away our best offensive weapon, and the only reliable method of scoring goals we've had all year.
We simply don't have enough pieces of our team operating at a high level to be tinkering with the ones that already are working. If we're going to make the playoffs, it'll be by riding Gaudreau-Monahan-X's offence, the 3M line's shutdown ability, Giordano-Hamilton's dominant 2-way play, and praying we get something positive out of the rest of the lineup.

Umm he threw the hit that resulted in the goal. So technically it's exactly what happened

He didn't get called, so who cares.
He got an assist on the game tying goal.
He just drew a penalty as well.

Normally the Oilers pbp cries are laughable but they had grounds there. The poor reffing is everywhere.

If you give this team three periods of the third period lines I bet you score at least two goals

I wouldn't call that a forecheck...he should be the goat in the box for taking a dumb penalty. Too bad the league is fixed

Whatever it is, it's funny to see Kane make an immediate impact, resulting in a game tying goal no less.

If Monny or Janko scored on their break aways in the first we likely win this game but you should not have to have your rookie goalie pitch a shutout to have a chance to win. Gillies cheated on the first goal was in position to stop the second goal. Gillies not being able to stop the rim around the boards caused a lot of problems. He seems to react late on long shots which is a concern.

Flames had the most chances in the 2nd period...also the period were Bennett took a stupid offensive zone penalty that lead to a goal against.
Not sure how anyone can say Bennett had a great game...I don't remember him setting up a bunch of chances...I think you were seeing what you wanted to see.

Maybe, maybe not. But stating it 437 times doesn't give it any more truth.
Monahan and Gaudreau didn't look very good individually up until the third, and the PP still wasn't getting it done with the normal units.

OH MY GOD. I don't even agree with the decision but this is getting ridiculous.
First of all, you didn't even watch the first two periods according to your post in the game thread!
Secondly, one of their best scoring chances all games was a Monahan break away set up by Stewart in the first period.
Thirdly, in the second period the top line hardly saw the ice because they were on the penalty kill for half of the period.
Stewart was not the reason the Flames lost.

Couldn’t agree more. I saw the Jets vs the Stars game just a couple days ago and the Stars were absolutely crushed by the sheer skill and talent of the Jets. Then they shut us out and only needed a lousy goal on Gillies to beat us.
There’s a stark contrast in offensive firepower from our incredibly average group of finishers vs the top tier. Just watch William Nylander’s assist tonight and tell me if Sam Bennett could ever pull an individual move like that.
Nylander and Ehlers are absolute offensive dynamos and it kind of makes me sad that Bennett has such a hard time creating a single scoring chance.
