Don't forget about the GWG's! Is it 9 this year, with a bunch of them happening 3 on 3? Poor Mony... Hopefully he will be able to entertain himself during his week off with all those dollar billz. Soooo much toast.,..

I think one of the worst songs of all time was Kid Rock mashing together Sweet Home Alabama and Werewolves of London.
"There’s nothing good about this song. It soullessly rips off not one but two classic rock tunes–Mr. Zevon is no doubt spinning in his grave. And the lyrics are just awful." http://www.darrenbarefoot.com/archiv...mmer-long.html
We had a hard time picking the worst Kid Rock song of all time because there are just so many to choose from. In the end though, this travesty won, thanks to that bit where he rhymes the word "things"... with the word "things" (it's not like "orange" — pick a different word!). And then samples "Sweet Home Alabama" in a song that's supposed to be about "Northern Michigan". Absolute nonsense from start to finish. https://archives.sfweekly.com/shookd...-####ing-worst
There's actually a podcast about how bad it is:
https://player.fm/series/this-song-f...-long-kid-rock
And the internet goes on and on about it - I guess I'm not the only one.

I think you'd be surprised at how big the cross-over between Kid Rock fans and NHL fans is, particularly in the USA. A lot of posters in here suggesting that Metric would be a better choice, but that's pretty young and hipstery music.
And despite what people are saying about Kid Rock not having done anything recent, many of his recent albums have sold quite well. They're just more country orientated.
Most people here probably know Kid Rock for his rap/rock stuff, but his later stuff actually did a lot better:
https://www.billboard.com/music/kid-rock/chart-history
I'm not a fan of his music, but I don't think it was a huge mistake to choose him. The stuff I listen to probably wouldn't have much appeal to a USA sports fan audience.

It's definitely in the conversation for worst song ever made. Someone posted the RYM link to the song, and this review from there sums it up well.
Quote:
1. Kid Rock finally figured out that the money is in the hands of most older women who want nostalgic thoughts of their lost youth
2. Kid Rock learned that most older women love "Werewolves Of London", and "Sweet Home Alabama" as both are overplayed continually so he decides to rub the two together
3. Kid Rock remembers how Dobie Gray had a hit again with "Drift Away" (With Uncle Kracker) and so he includes terrible backing "soul" singing
4. Kid Rock realizes that his misspent youth of being stuffed into lockers, huffing glue and trying to make it with the simple chicks at his school won't sell so he invents past where he was a youth in the '70s and he had friends and smoked up and drank whiskey and partied all the time
5. As predicted the people this was intended for ate this up with a spoon, and it's the summer smash
|
Seeing as it's guaranteed to be played since it's his biggest song ever (if you exclude the Sheryl Crow duet), I hope people aren't near any sharp objects when he plays it. Would be sad if people did what comes naturally when the song is played: want to cut their ears off.

So guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. I'm afraid that's really not unusual.

As fascinating as the discussion about how much Kid Rock sucks is,
I wonder if Johnny leads the game in scoring? I think he's the best 3 on 3 player in the game and it wouldn't surprise me. (I think he was right up there last year wasn't he?)
I wonder what other forward they pair him with this year.

I'd like to see Gaudreau with Boeser. At least one Pacific pair will have no centre. So they might play Gaudreau with a winger because he's a playmaker. Boeser, Neal and Rakell are all more scorers. Of those, Boeser would be the most fun to watch with Johnny.
Of course what will actually happen is they will play Boeser with McDavid.

I am fine with this. I would rather not see Gaudreau stapled to either a Canuck or Oiler for the game.

Speaking of All Stars... Ovi is only 14 goals away from 600. Do we see a player reach that level in the next 10 or 15 years?
Laine might have a snowballs chance. Stamkos the only likely player I would bet. He's at 338 goals and 631 GP. Tends to be injury prone.
Sid is at 399 with over 830 GP. Likely has to play 1,400 games to reach it if you account for a bit of a slow down in production in his final 3 or 4 years.

I think Auston Matthews is as good as bet as Laine, based on early returns. From a flames perspective, Monahan has a shot at 500 I think, would have to put up a string of 35-40 goals though, which looks like he’s starting this year hopefully.

Hell maybe Monahan has a better shot at 600 than I originally thought, he’s ahead of where Jarome was at this point in his career. I don’t know if Monahan will be able to put up a couple 50 goals years like Jarome did though. And getting the kind of longevity Jarome has is pretty hard, it’s pretty doubtful Monahan can achieve it. But here’s to hoping anyway.

If Ovi stays healthy he's got a good chance of hitting 2nd all time in goals and if he stays at this pace for another 3 or 4 years and can play til he is 40 he'even has a chance of taken over Gretzkys totals for 1st all time. Ovi is arguably the best pure goal scorer of in NHL history.
