But we aren't going to adjust our decisions or how we approach things to make you happy.
In the meantime I'm happy to continue the dialogue with people who are interested in a true back and forth and discussion.
That's funny because it isn't about what makes me happy, it's about doing what's right. And in my humblest opinion is that your teams handling of these types of situations are wrong. This is the thread to say these things isn't it?

You don't stop the music at a dance because some clown is grabbing people inappropriately, you grab that clown and kick him out. It's called the correct course of action.

Is this not healthy dialog??

I also didn’t agree with the StrykerSteve situation. Some of the more PC crowd found it “objectified” this woman. Who willingly filmed and posted it herself online and is a public figure. Is it merely because she’s attractive? It seems like some people are guilty of these thoughts of her being an “object” themselves and then feel it should be removed for everyone else. We’re grown ups seeing a woman do a fist pump fully clothed after jumping through a doorway should never be offensive. I really feel like that was a point on this board in the 15 years I’ve been reading that moderation took it to far and maybe is starting to cater to a certain demographic on here. I’ve never even been one to give it more then a scroll by either btw myself. Just found that was a bit over reactive IMO.

^Thst isn't what happened. It wasn't removed. We asked that it be put in NSFW tags, for people at work. That's it.

Honest question, but where do people work that that gif would get them in trouble? If people are getting in trouble it's probably for spending half their work day on CP, not because of an attractive woman jumping through a doorway.

If you work at a place where that would be deemed "unsafe" you probably shouldn't be spending company time on a hockey site. Just my 2 cents.

As one of the usual outside opinions here, I have never had any issues with the mods. I do find some of the things they do silly (as noted above) but that doesn't curtail the experience.

That's at least a post that is a point instead of a one line snipe.
So I'll respond.
Someone posts a photo of their attractive SO.
As expected comments come complimenting that poster on how attractive she is.
At one point does it cross a line? It is really hard to tell...

There were a lot of posts in that thread were people were commenting about her - and at some point those comments started to get creepy. But no one got particularly vulgar, explicit or threatening in the comments (unless I didn't see it). But it got a little pervy and weird. But it is really hard to determine which comments were so creepy that you should suspend or ban the poster.

One of the reasons we took the photos down was so that it wouldn't be grabbed by someone else and used on this site, or another site, at a different time.

And let's remember this has happened before with this very poster and their SO that led to other creepy comments. I would hazard to say that if we allowed those posts it would happen again.

So the safest course of action is to just not allow them particularly since it isn't core to the enjoyment of the site.

So again, you can say you would have dealt with it differently. That's fine. These are not black and white decisions. But they are decisions we consider carefully, discuss as a group and weigh pros and cons on. They aren't arrived at willy nilly. We take care with those decisions.

Doesn't mean everyone will like what we do.

For all the talk about how easily offended people are, there sure are a lot of people who got upset that mods requested an image be tagged.

Maybe those people are more right than they know.

If someone walks by my computer and sees TSN on my screen that's probably OK. If someone walks by my computer and sees a dancing woman dressed in what some may consider to be provactive clothing - it probably isn't OK.

I'm lucky to work at a place where things are pretty relaxed. So having calgarypuck, facebook or whatever up wouldn't surprise anyone.

But that GIF would. Most certainly people would wonder what I'm looking at.

Well, that's where we've drawn the line and I honestly don't see it swinging back to the way it was so, here we are.

I routinely get racier ads on CP than any of the content on the site itself, but maybe that's just google thinking it has me figured out.

I will say though, the times I've admittedly been an ass were the times I got infractions. The times I've pushed it are the times I got warnings. And the time I ignored the warning was the time I got binned for a bit.

So, in my experience at least, everything has been handed out fairly (though I thought my binned time was a little long based on the crime...). If I'm not an ass, things go pretty smooth, and I think the same can be said for just about everyone else.

Yeah, I got one for what appeared to be a Russian Mail order Bride service. AdSense (I'm assuming that's what it is and not CP-selected) can be really strange sometimes.

I don’t buy the girls gif vs tsn argument

You’re wasting time at work, the girl isn’t naked, what’s the difference

Thank you for the clarity on the removal of Mrs.Strykers GIF. That's absolutely valid and totally understand that.
But the lack of a sin bin on some very clear derogatory remarks by one or two posters is still a contentious issue. I know of two that for sure for sure we're crossing lines. You're not setting a disciplinary bar for posters and behavior. And they can't know where that line is without guidance. Doesn't need to be a perma ban first strike but something other than a verbal needs to be set for a first strike.

Well it’s not there for you to “buy.” Wild GM has enlightened us all as to his own situaition and comfort level at work. I shared in another thread about this issue that one of my offices is housed in a Seminary.

The fact of the matter is that latitude in these matters from one place to another; differences in opinions from one person to another are VAST. We have to navigate these sensibly and with sensitivity.

It’s the reasoning behind things though. And why does one require this but not another. It seems like if someone posts a pretty woman this must be tagged but any other woman is okay to post. I don’t understand the logic behind that. What qualifies being inappropriate? Or anything with a woman in it is now supposed to be nsfw? I’m not following the logic. Yeah she’s wearing a deep cut shirt but you see worse waking down the street. I’m failing to see where the “line” is.

If I say your avatar offends me because he’s a smug asshat who went on a racist tirade one time should my request be approved or should I just keep scrolling along and go about my day?

IF I waste time at work it just means I have to work longer. My employers don’t care much about how I manage my time just that I deliver.
A girl doesn’t have to be naked for someone to be uncomfortable with seeing that image in the workplace

We can all help the moderation team by showing respect for one another on this forum. Disagree in a respectful manner and leave out the personal insults and petty jabs.

It's a thankless job and I for one have great respect for members who have donated their time to help make this a better place to talk hockey and other off topic matters. Thank you to all the mods.

I work in an office with 80% women so I don't think it would be work appropriate. Still not as bad as Girlsports pelvic thrusting korean teenagers though.
