The funny part is, that those that drink in public ALL THE TIME, be it cheap alcohol, non beverage alcohol (listerine, finesse, etc), are the problems with public intoxication and indecency. But they RARELY if ever suffer any consequences of it. They get a ride (from us, from CPS, from DOAP), and most can even keep the alcohol for later consumption although I've tossed some.

I can handle my beer, or whatever I choose to drink. Its social, its enjoyable. I'm from the Netherlands so I've seen plenty of public drinking, hell when beer is cheaper than soft drinks at McDonalds, you know what is going to be drank. There was also no real age restriction for a long time but they now only allow beer and wine at 16, and liquor at 18. Sure there are public drunks, there always will be. But with the current set of laws, there are as well, so what are we protecting?

Put me right in the category of having publicly consumed tons. Discretion is easy, and there's lots of attention whore drunks out there to take the heat off you.

Don't even get me started on campgrounds and drinking "off your site". What a nanny state
