So, who do you propose will fill this void of "toughness"? Jagr? Iginla? Someone else?

Maybe I am a "soft fan," but there is nothing in the game that I see today which suggests to me that chest thumping, scrimmaging between whistles and other forms of hockey voodoo make any positive contribution to their outcome. If by "toughness" you mean endurance, fortitude and determination, then that is another matter, but I suspect you have something different in view.

Between Ferland, Tkachuk, Bennett, Hamonic, Giordano, Stone and probably some guys I'm missing.... I think the Flames are tough enough for a hockey team in 2017.

And of course Gazdic's a phone call away in Stockton too for those special occasions. I'm ok with the team toughness, and, this coach's willingness to use it.

Anyways, back to Jagr. Time to get this done and really ramp up the city excitement.

When was last time any team needed to outfight another team to win a hockey game? The 70s? Or has it ever even happened?

Luckily for us games are decided by goals and not punches.

I love how you're confused on what pronoun to use. "Oh I'll pretend I'm one of them for a bit".

Much like your hockey club, you are NO GOOD at it though.

Scrimmaging between whistles would be so confusing. But I'm intrigued. Gotta be better than the shootout.

Goons are gone but any player will tell you a strong deterrent is needed even in todays game.

Case in point. the minute it became clear Minnesota was targeting Gaudreau's hands Granlund should have had a stick broken over his, and if that didn't work when Staal finally broke Johnny's hand he should have lost his teeth immediately. your top forward gone with a broken hand and zero response.

That night in Minnesota was a kick in the nuts to the leadership group, I sure hope they learned from that because that night would have never happened when Iginla was around.
