Whether it is Edmonton or Anaheim, the Flames will be the underdog without home ice advantage. The greatest pressure will be on their opponents.
The Flames are healthy, Elliott is in great form. This team has a good combination of speed, skill and grit.
The key to beating Anaheim is to not get away from the speed and skill part of the Flames game. The key to beating Edmonton is to pound on their top line.
Either way we should see some great playoff games. No one expected the Flames to be SC contenders this year, so let's let our horses run and see what happens....and enjoy the ride!

Yeah I get so happy when the team I invest all this time and money into supporting loses. This is exactly why CP has the rep it has around calgary and hockey forums.
Ridiculous.

I envision them as Bingo and Photon. I dont know which is which.

anaheim is a much better team than edmonton, and i think we can definitely take the oilers, but losing to them would also be even more painful than losing to the ducks... this first round is gearing up to be a wild one.
i just hope all our players play up to their abilities. i'm especially excited to see playoff ferland and tkachuk.

Just my 2 cents, but the Ducks are out for blood and Flames blood in particular. If the Flames do face Anaheim, the PP will have to be clicking otherwise I think the Ducks will attempt to run roughshod over the Flames. It should be some great entertainment.

I dont know about that, my postman almost never shuts up about it and the damned train conductors whine about it constantly.
Its a rather disjointed conversation most of the time and almost never has anything to do with hockey.

Battle of Alberta. It'll be amazing.

One quick example.
Place is known as an echochamber where everyone who doesn't conform with the group think is chewed out.
But there's no examples of that here.....
Its a great forum, easily the best for Calgary-centric off topic discussion. Plenty of issues and validity in those sentiments though.

I'll take either as we have the speed, skill and grit as previously mentioned.
We are in great shape depth wise as I like the players who can step in if need be including Dennis. He has to realize this is his last shot at anything and I hope that is just what he needs to get going.
Back to systems I think 5 on 5 we are okay , PK okay but we have to be better with the man advantage.
Happy to see Ferlund getting parked in front and I'd like to see them use Engelland this way as well. Needing 2 guys to remove one guy leaves a dangerous player open .
This team has shown puck possession and playing good team defence in front of a steady goalie can win games.
Discipline will matter as well regardless of whether we feel the wideman effect plays a role or not.
We can win it all I feel the way this team has come together.

Beyond.ca, despite amazingly still being a thing, has over 7000 users, its amazing that 28 of them hate CP because they arent allowed to try and sell tickets over face value.
And I'm one of those users, I had to dig up a password from like a decade ago.
Although it is interesting to see some common Sponsored Sub-Forums...

I want those Ducks. I want this to be the defining moment of their decline where the entire cheating, dirty, scoundrel franchise has to be questioned.
I want to see Ferland own Bieksa again, and I finally want to see someone stand up and own Bieksa. Perry will get his accountability regardless.

I want Edmonton. Nothing better than the Battle of Alberta. The fact McDavid is a media-darling superstar will only make it sweeter when we beat them.
And yes, the Flames did back into the playoffs. If your record in the last three weeks of the season wouldn't get you in the playoffs if projected over a season, then you backed in.

Agreed, I think the ducks are a perfect team to learn from. If we can play with these guys and beat them we should be good to go further in the playoffs.

I wouldn't mind the Oilers for hockey related reasons but can you imagine the broadcasts? 30 minutes pregame about McDavid's breakfast, Lucic this, Lucic that, and a KatzLoweMac-TGretzkyMessierNicholson love-in every night.
The only thing mentioned about the Flames prior to puck drop will be "in net for Calgary...Brian Elliott." Sure to also get Romanuk-Galley/Millen.
Ducks without Fowler, Ritchie out game 1, Lindholm and Vatanen rusty if they get in, Perry nursing injuries and their sure focus on Giordano doesn't sound so bad.

Quite surprised that there has been such little focus on the Oilers lack of playoff experience.
Their top 2 players have a combined total of 46 minutes in the NHL playoffs.
Experience matters.
Want the Oilers.
Flames in 6!
