If/when NetFlix or something similar starts live streaming sports events, look out. For me, sports is really the only thing left truly keeping me from cutting the cord.

It's coming. Amazon Prime will stream Thursday Night Football for the NFL
It's been rumoured for a while ESPN was going to cut a lot of on-air people because it's a bigger money saver than technical people. Next round of TV deals for all the sports should be very interesting. Here is some of the people who've been fired so far since the Deadspin link is nothing be tweets and Instragram posts so it takes forever to load.

Forums like CP and other on line chat services have a lot to do with it as well.
After a game I would much rather come on here and read the takes of users many of whom I have come to respect and offer much better analysis than the so called professional talking heads. And of course the opportunity to participate.
I only watch Sports Centre for the highlights.

Sports Centre ratings have declined a ton as well. You can get all the highlights on demand through a ton of different websites. ESPN at least is moving towards more personality driven Sportscentres and you can see TSN attempting to do the same thing with Jay and Dan coming back.
I keep hearing that. That Average Sportsfan can get the highlights anywhere online, so Sportscenter had to change its model.
But where can I get neatly packaged highlights, of all the relevant action of the day/evening, regardless of the sport? I'm not going to spend time searching out the internet for basketball/hockey/baseball highlights. I'm more likely to just not care anymore.

Yup. In all honesty if I couldn't record sportscenter and skip over the garbage to watch highlights I just wouldn't watch any highlights.

Hmm... Time to monetize CalgaryPuck. Bell presents Bingo's Game Takes. The Post Game Thread is brought to you by Eastside Kia. Locke (sponsored by Bigrock) with a snarky response.
other than the hockey guys, Jayson Stark was the most shocking to me.
I love his work.
Would have to think both will be back somewhere else.
I'm more worried about Darren Hayes shutting down. He said on Twitter if his last sponsor goes he does as well. He is the best Flames reporter we have.

They lost 12 million subscribers. ESPN makes $7 USD per subscribers. That means they lost 84 million dollars in 1 year.
Some of these people on the list let go were making up to 5 million a year.

It is a different Darren Haynes at ESPN. I was confused when I saw his name, so did a bit of googling.
