Thats why I don't hate the trade.

But I think this team can make some noise in the playoffs personally and Vrbata helps more than Lazar at this point

I don't get it? Vrbata is 35 and Lazar is 22. I get Lazar has struggled but was fairly highly touted. This is a move for the future and hopefully kicks Chaisson to the press box

It's all about expectations. Don't expect him to be a top 6 player...compare him to what you could have realistically got out of this years second round pick.
So, if he is not protected, and this is the player we lose in the expansion draft, is that such a big deal?

Seriously, why not Vrbata? Lazar is a classic bust.

God damn. I haven't hated a trade this much in ages?

Lazar likely has a better chance of being a better NHL pro than whoever we would pick in a shallow draft in the second half of the second round, so I'm okay with paying the pick.
Kevin wasn't going to crack the lineup for the rest of the year anyway.

I like it. He's been a winner at every level, and even if he rounds out to be a 3rd liner in the end, that's the expectation of a 2nd rounder this draft anyways. Regardless, he brings intangibles that I don't think show up on the scoresheet all the time. He reminds me of Bennett a bit.

This is exciting

If he had mono he would be a write off for a good chunk of the season. Some people practically dont even leave their bedroom for over a month with mono.

I don't really like the value of this trade but if Brad and his scouts think that Lazar will be a player then he is definitely worth that second.

Plus, this ensures that Brouwer is exposed.

I really wish we could have dealt one of our former first rounders instead but I guess they have little value other than Jankowski.

I wouldn't call him a bust quite yet.
He's young and has potential.
Vrbata is a rental.

I don't see the need for anger over this one. Just see how it plays out.

Wont we need to protect him in expansion draft? Theoretically we could lose him to vegas right?

Except he isn't.

He has been really really bad .....it's unknown what that pick might be.

I'm not against a reclamation project but the price is just too high.
