like Hudler? what has he done lately besides score on his own net?

I'm comparing the drop-off between their regular season numbers and their playoff numbers and concluding that Iginla plays better in more important/more physical games.
I'm comparing Vrbata now to Hudler in 2015 in that line (should have noted it more clearly). He was in a key roster spot and the Flames got absolutely destroyed in that series. I'm way happier with Ferland on the top line as is, and if we're talking about the 3rd line - Versteeg - Bennett - Vrbata? No thanks. I'd sooner stick with Brouwer there. Or, if possible, find a better fit than Vrbata for that line so that Brouwer gets pushed down to the 4th line, and Chiasson gets pushed out of the lineup.

I don't think terrible is quite the right perspective - Colorado has clearly mailed it in as an entire team while Arizona still plays hard and finds ways to win lately. I don't think anyone in Colorado is even interested in padding their stats at this point.

Iginla hasn't played a playoff game since 2014 where he had a decent (but not outstanding) 7 points in 12 games. Why do we think he'll be a good playoff guy this year?

The more I think about it the more I don't think the Flames are in on Vrbata. I mean I suppose BT moved quickly on Stone before another team could grab him and said he would re-visit the idea of Vrbata closer to the deadline but you would think when he made the deal for Stone if he wanted Vrbata he just would have acquired him as well in that Stone deal.

Adding Vrbata as a rental - depending on cost to acquire - wouldn't be a move I'd be dead set against. The Flames currently don't own a 3rd round pick in the next two drafts so if a deal involves a 2nd + it becomes less attractive.
Adds a little offense (15G 31A 46PTS) that I'd pair with Bennett & Brouwer. As a bonus it would knock Chiasson down to the 13th forward spot which in itself makes me lean towards pulling the trigger. Again, depends on the cost to acquire.
Ferland - Monahan - Gaudreau
Vrbata - Bennett - Brouwer
Tkachuk - Backund - Frolik
Bouma - Stajan - Versteeg
Chiasson

Based off nothing more than watching him play lately. I think with the compete level he's carrying right now, and a better situation, he'll perform.

I'm not saying I would be against Iginla if the cost was basically nothing...but really one guy is SO much better
take the nostalgic glasses off
Look at any media trade list, is Iggy even on there?
Poll any other team and I think 95% of people would go with Vrbata at this point in his career.

not against the deal but like everyone has mentioned, it depends on the cost of acquisition...
the draft isn't great this year, and if we get into the playoffs, the 2nd round pick is that much lower...

It not like we just have our pick of one of these three either...so much goes into it
cost
other teams
if the player wants to play here
Some assume Iggy wants back here so bad...what has given you that impression? I have never once heard him mention Calgary since leaving other than to say our facilities suck

Vrabta takes Versteeg's LW spot on the Bennett line. IMO,that's an upgrade.
As for the top line does it matter if Ferland or Gaudrau are listed as RW versus LW. Myself, I place the guy with more talent on the off wing but whatever works.

I look at Iginla as the toughest forward available who can play in a 3rd line role, with occasional spot duty.
I see us as a team consistently pushed around by Pacific Division teams.
It has nothing to do with Iginla having played here before. It has everything to do with adding a forward who addresses a glaring hole in our lineup

But it makes no sense. Calgary could use a scoring RW RS and they acquire him and stick him on LW? Then they take their best forward and change his position? That seems like a very bad idea.

sorry if this has been covered somewhere in the last 6 pages....
This issue about the bonus' due to him next season, are they irrespective of any clause that can be put in the trade conditions (ie. arizona holding on to his salary)? Or is there literally no way around the team that gets him having to pay out next years bonuses??

Not a big fan, but he might click really nicely alongside Monahan and Gaudreau. He was always a really smart offensive player.
Hate the fact it is a rental.
Especially hate the fact that he has a bonus-laden contract that could hurt next season.
Hopefully Flames find a better fit, or even do nothing at all.
