He's not. But it's a reward for bringing home 3 cup parades. You could make the argument he was underpaid during all 3 runs. As much as the contract itself sucks, the whole purpose of the game is to win the cup and from what I've read on the Hawks forum, I don't think you'll find very many Hawks' fans who dislike the contract after what Toews has done.

Hell if the Flames win 3 cups in 6 years, I'll gladly provide the pen for Monahan to sign a 10 million/year contract when it's time to re-up him even if it means cap hell for the rest of his career.

Me too, assuming Monahan is an integral part of those 3 wins and is in the conversation as the best player in world (even if it isn't quite true).

I wonder if the ASG will put Gaudreau in a better mind set going forward.

NHL removes Breakaway Challenge from the skills competition. Deemed too goofy.

Gaudreau will face Patty Kane in the stick-handling portion of the Skills Challenge Relay

https://www.nhl.com/news/2017-nhl-sk...st/c-286186836

That looks to be the only thing he will be participating in the skills competition

There is no hype around this event. John Scot probably doubled the NHLs numbers last year.

Don't care about it, probably won't watch anything about it. There's nothing really that makes me want to go, hey there's an allstar game on.

John Scott was the reason I didn't watch. The event last year with him made the game a complete farce and joke.

John Scott was the only reason I watched. I have no interest in watching this.

I hated the all star game before but since it's become 3 on 3 I'm much more interested in it. Of course that could also be the Gaudreau factor speaking too.

The best part about the NHL All Star game is reading about how much people hate the All Star game

I like the term "money grab" as though it's "how dare they cheapen the sanctity of the game for entertainment dollars!"

Not watching the game doesn't count if you go out of your way to tell everyone that you're not watching it.

ASG is a gimmicky waste of time.

But given how strenuous the Flames season has been, a break wouldn't be the worst thing right now.

As much as i hate kesler, he has been better this year.
Pavelski is better, as is jeff carter.
The others are the lone picks for their team, so the format means they have to be there
yes
