I wonder if Gulutzan thinks this is year 1 of a rebuild. Didn't he say against Washington that its a good chance for the Flames to learn from one of the best teams? Now he's saying we went in intimidated by the Kings?
Doesn't sound like winning is a huge expectation. In fact I haven't heard anything from him this year on what he expects this team to do.

I found it odd that Gelinas was gushing about the Caps as well after that game. These guys sound like they're way over their heads.

I am no fan of the coaches that were hired this off season, but how is that not 100% on the players?
Where is the veteran leadership on this team?

Tier 1: Hamilton, Stajan, Kulak, Grossman. These players are really playing subpar. Some play with effort some do not. Regardless, the team will not be a playoff team with these players, whether you like them or not.
Tier 2: Giordano, Brodie, Ferland, Monahan, and Bennett. These players are all capable players. They've lost focus and are not playing the way they should. I know some other fans will place blame on others, but I blame these players for breaking up plays that should be there or not doing enough to create plays on a consistent basis.
Offence is suffering because of our back end failing to understand what defense is! Defense is the worst in the league this year and last year. I'm sick of everyone jumping on the goalies. All too often I see defenseman out of place, falling down, and even panicking or not thinking the game properly. Sutter years ago played Doughty at winger for a game, because he was jumping up ice all too often. Doughty got the hint quickly and didn't like it at all.
This all starts with Burke and everyone under him. The buck stops at him.

How about laying off of inhaling the rubbing alcohol before you get too tripped out.
Kulak hasn't had anything close to a sub par game yet and he was our best defenceman by a large margin, and Stajan has played pretty well in general with the exception of tonight and maybe the game against the Caps.
Pretty wack of you to think Kulak, Stajan & Hamilton have been our worst problems let alone subpar.

GG is a huge failure, i would still give him the year because this team isnt making the playoffs even with Scotty Bowman in his prime...

I just want an explanation for why Grossmann was dressed in favor of Jokipakka. A member of the media needs to ask GG that question point blank.

let's be fair.
Monahan, Gaudreau, Gio, and Brodie have gone from being very good NHLers to playing like waiver fodder this season.
Johnston made Crosby a sub-PPG player.

Waive a single one of those guys and they get picked up instantly and go on to have a great season.

I would consider a 2-2 road trip to be a success too. Too bad the 2nd win has to come in Anaheim, which, if it were to happen would result in fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria! As someone surely would have sold their soul to make it happen.
As for tonight, how many periods have the flames actually looked good in the 13 games they played this season? I'm not sure it's in the double digits yet.

Disagree. Firing him by Christmas sends a very strong message that this level of play is not acceptable. It also limits the bad habits and long term self-doubt in the players.
It's about time we start hearing from Burke and his thoughts on this situation.

Asked and answered earlier pre game I saw a tweet (sorry can't remember who) who quoted GG as saying Grossman was needed for his grit size and "truculence"
I am paraphrasing except for the truculence part which I quoted.

Here's the tweet:
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Gulutzan There is going to be more contact tonight. We will have to use our speed to counteract their size and truculence. Yes he said that

well if Gulutzan wanted to counter the King's grit with speed, dressing Grossmann makes even less sense.

If your system sucks and you're not a good motivator, which are the two primary jobs of a head coach, you're not going to last very long.
Glue gun still has time but it is certainly ticking. And it'd be a damn shame if the season was lost.
