Not to undermine your guys' point, but I'm always pretty meh about stockpiled prospects and great youth on budget teams like Carolina, Arizona etc.
It's exciting for sure, but the chances of them going all the way financially to bring an exciting core of (insert year here) to Stanley Cup contenders is always very small.
They'll be good while the young guys are ELC, and may sign one or two stars past that, but they'll always end up around the league floor or slightly above it, and will trade stars away for picks and then get us excited in 5 years about the new amazing foundation.

Never know. If the NHL can continue to grab a few % of HRR each time the CBA expires, then eventually all teams will be healthy enough to spend to upper cap limit.

Carolina has put a lot of good players together but they have the same problem that every team that hasn't tanked will have. They have no elite forwards at all, and none in the pipeline. Hanifin, Slavin and Faulk will make a killer top 3, and that's not even mentioning their other wealth of talent, but they need some firepower up front. Skinner is good but not elite, Lindholm looks like a 2C (so far), and Aho is good but I don't think he'll be Gaudreau/Barkov/Giroux level good. To compete in this league you need at least one player who can flirt with the top 10 in scoring imo and the Canes will need to find someone to do so.
I quite like Carolina though, and I wish them luck in making the playoffs this season or in the Patrick sweepstakes. Also, their team forum on HF might be one of the best places on the internet. It makes me want to be a fan.

Hard to believe Burrows is still playing for the Canucks. I see him getting maybe 5 goals this season.

this will just hurt them in the lottery...
honestly though if the Flames are worried about passing the Canucks at the end of the season they aren't anywhere near a playoff spot anyway

Canucks are 2-0 and have held a lead for exactly zero seconds.

I was at both games here in Vancouver over the weekend. I'm thinking many on here will eat a little crow over making fun of Dim Jim for the Gudbranson trade... the guy looked great in the 2 games... he made a gaff tonight on the 3rd Canes goal (maybe it was the 2nd)... but all in all, he was extremely good defensively, making several outstanding plays in his own zone.

Way to go Sabres. Good average with 2 goals per period. O'Reiley with 2 goals helps embarrass the stupid Oilers 6-2 on their home ice. Kesler with a cheap shot on Tavares, good to see the Ducks lose 3-2 in OT. Nice GWG by Bailey, great moves. The Islanders took it to the Ducks in the 1st period, 16-3 were the shots. Canucks fans are in love with Granlund as he got 2 points in the 4-3 OT win. It's 2 games in a row the Hurricanes blow a 3rd period lead and lose it in OT, bizarre to say the least.
