They forgot he's a good kid, everyone loved him and he was friendly generous thrifty and fair.
This isn't the first time to the circus for this punk, if he's not guilty, I'm not sure I would recind calling him a punk based on his previous history.
I don't care nor believe that he's scared of the justice system as he keep appearing in front of it.
I don't care if he was drunk and can't remember it, to me that's no excuse for a piece of crap carry a gun or having a easy reach to it. the old saying is something like En Vito Veritas, in wine there is truth. All that he showed if he was drunk and shot a guy who actually sounds like he was trying to help him is at his nature, he's a piece of garbage with no redeeming qualities.
I don't care what his family says. Its no different to me then the recent drug dealer who was busted after selling Fentynl that ended up killing people and the drug dealers dad telling us what a great kid he was and how he cared so much about the people that he poisoned.
I get it, these families are being told by their lawyers to talk up the character of their thugish dirtbag family members. But it doesn't make me feel sick to my stomach any less.
Just like their apology after conviction that I doubt that they mean, but hope that it tugs on the judges heart strings.
Bleah.
sorry folks, rant off.

His family's reaction is EXACTLY why these kids think they can get away with anything. "He's a good kid...." Bull####. Why does your "good kid" need a gun in the first place?

I was going to post the same rant as Captain and Northcrunk summed it up perfectly. If you're such a good kid you don't need to own a gun.

I suppose the picture of the gun he posted on instagram wasn't his, wasn't real, or something along those lines.

This guy is a straight loser and is well known to the Calgary police. You mean to tell me they didn't know this 19 year old has been in and out of the criminal justice system on multiple occasions? Give me a break! Shove your sob story, its sickening.

Maybe the shooter was all crunked and not drunk.......I guess my question is, was he all drunk when he put the gun in the car?

His Instagram account was hacked, the hacker took down all of the pictures of kittens and sunsets and posted pictures of guns and whatnot.....the whole wanted by police thing, was a case of mistaken identity/substandard legal representation........
I sure hope this sister does not get a lot of media exposure, listening to her is pathetic

Yeah zero sympathy here. He went to his car and came back with a gun, so you can't even say it was a split second reaction. Sorry sis.
Take pretty much anyone in human history, no matter how evil, and I'm sure at least one family member or significant other adored them and were treated well by said monster. Doesn't mean ####.

If he was intoxicated like his sister said and he couldn't remember the night. I find it unlikely he would be able to get to his car, find the gun and get back to shoot Mylan.

My dad got to do jury duty twice. The second one was a murder case where a guy came home and found his wife having sex with her boss. He went to the kitchen and got a knife and came back and butchered both of him.
Because he took the time to get the knife, it removed any kind of crime of passion sympathy by the jury. Basically he had time to leave the room and go get a weapon and decide outright that he was going to kill someone.
If this piece of garbage went to his car and got the gun, to me drunk or not, his actions were deliberate and he intended to shoot someone, and since you don't shoot to wound, he decided that he was going to kill someone.

He told his sister he didn't do it, yet he was also too drunk to remember? So how exactly does he know he didn't do it? Unless you were passed out on the ground the whole time, I'm not buying it...

The idea of being too drunk to remember seems plausible only if you've never been drunk before.

I'm not sure what you mean.
People get black out drunk all the time. They don't usually kill someone, but I suppose it could happen.

Yeah, I don't think you can use both the excuse that you were too drunk to remember and that you didn't do it for the same crime.

I was a Bouncer in my former life, and let me tell you, there are alot of bloody idiots that can't control their alcohol.
However, most of the altercations we had to break up were not due to alcohol, but bravado. The fighters weren't drunk, just felt like outsiders / left out & felt they had to make a statement by starting a fight with someone they felt 'offended them' or 'bumped into them'.
Most of the altercations were started by people like the alleged shooter in question.
My least favorite night to work was the Hip Hop night held every Sunday. Attracted alot of the scumbags / drug dealers that didn't have jobs to go to on Monday. There would always be problems.

The suspect in the shooting death of Calgary Stampeders defensive back Mylan Hicks is looking for a new lawyer.
Nelson Tony Lugela appeared in Calgary provincial court Thursday where defence lawyer Matt Deshaye told Judge Terry Semenuk that Vancouver lawyer Hubert Gawley no longer wishes to act for the accused.

Even his lawyer knew he's toast.

The article in the herald suggested that this guy was going to get his own lawyer. Any estimates on the legal costs for something like those? Six figures easy?
Anyone have any insight on what legal aid is bringing in a lawyer from Vancouver?
