If there was issues my guess it would have been known months ago. And he would of been traded pre or during draft time.

You would really do E. Kane for Wideman?

Unless treliving and co are trying to impose some hard cap on his $$$ and Gaudreaus agent isnt having it.
Something is obviously up.

Its just hard bargaining. BT will have a contingency plan though, like he did with Gio.

No, what's up is BT and Gaudreau can't agree on dollar terms if Calgary wants to buy UFA years. That is the most likely occurance, and no reason to believe otherwise with any info we've gotten.
And if that's the case, the Flames should continue to try and get an acceptable deal for them right up until the last minute (whatever they decide that is) before finalizing terms on a shorter deal. Kuch in TB is likely very much in the same boat.

What would an offer sheet on JG look like if he was eligible.
Somewhere in the $8m range? 4 first round picks? That's where the trade offers start for me.
Atleast 2 first round, NHL ready top 6 winger 27 or younger and a Blue Chip Prospect.
Minimum.

Nah, not in the same way. Wideman by all accounts is not a cancer, he's just declining and overpaid. I also don't subscribe to the conspiracy theory that the refs will be out to get Wideman. There's also the matter of Wideman only having one year left and Kane has two.

I wouldn't do Kane for Wideman but I would do Wideman for a bag of Cheetos.

I don't post a whole lot but I enjoy reading all discussions. I don't get the hate with asking hypothetical questions. I brought this up in another thread and received some resistance as well. It's not like the OP magically plucked this idea out of fantasy.
There has been talks about him playing closer to home similar to talks about McDavid wanting the same when his ELC is up. Johnny is flames property but it's still unsigned so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Text critic made examples of hypothetical using Mony, Bennett, Brodie, and Hamilton but that isn't even a similar situation because those guys HAVE contracts.
I guess if you're not part of the CP "clique" then your opinions and thoughts become pointless for discussion.

And what kind of situations are these?
And if you're 'hoping' they are at least considering trading your favorite player, I would think that's pretty clear proof that you are not a Flames fan at all (just a Gaudreau supporter)

Situations where other teams offer more than management thinks a player is worth, or situations where management is unable to sign a player.
If we could get back a Hanifin ++ or Marner +++ I think you have to consider it.

Huh?
Some people reacted over-zealously to the thread but most of us have been discussing the topic. Not quite sure where the passive-aggressive CP clique whinge is coming from.
Thing is, even though most of CP's community is abnormally cool and intelligent - it's still an internet forum. People are always going to be "hating" and posting nonsense. Go to any other discussion board and it is 100x worse. No point taking it personally.

Agreed but saying that its not even a possibility while negotiations are taking longer then Im sure everyone involved would like is incorrect. Its something that could happen up until he's signed and thus whats the big deal with talking about it?
