I think Lochte knows exactly what happened but didn't want a potentially good story to be wasted. So he omits the part where him and his buddies vandalized a bathroom stall in a drunken stupor but keeps the part where guns were pointed at him. This way he is still a special guy with a really special story. This guy had his own reality tv show he knows how to spin pure trash into self aggrandizing BS.

Also, great on Lochte for overshadowing, oh like everything the US team is doing right now.

The more I think about this, the more this is like when Bart pissed off Australia on the Simpsons. Lochte deserves a big boot in the ass as a punishment too.

Swim in Phelps' shadow this last 8 years, he figured he needed his time in the spotlight, and the bleached hair now and other antics didn't get him over. Instead, brag that you got robbed and had a gun held to your head and brush it off as "meh" to score some cool points. He figures no one is going to doubt him.
As soon as the story came out and it was him claiming this, it sounded like a cry for attention and that's what it's turned out to be.

Should have known it wouldn't end up well when he decided to go full Guy Fieri with his hair. Never go full Fieri.

Wow, just wow. Sex scandal with the Brazilian synchro team, Lochte and company in being chump vandals, green pool water, and the Aussies being robbed and having stuff stolen. You can't make this stuff up! I don't recall past Olympics being this whacked out.

Okay, Feigen will give about $11,000 to a charity in Brazil and will head back to the USA. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-swim...bery-1.3727588 There are 2 quotes that stand out. "The lawyer said under Brazilian law, a donation can be made to avoid criminal prosecution for minor offences, but did not say what charge was being contemplated against Feigen." "Two of the swimmers — Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger — checked in to a flight out of Brazil late Thursday after a judge lifted the order seizing their passports and keeping them in the country."

This is my favourite part:
Quote:
When the media reports started, the four swimmers spoke to U.S. State Department officials and they agreed to shut up. Almost immediately after the briefing, Lochte “walked across the street” and gave an interview to NBC where he told his side of the story, including the infamous anecdote about how he replied to a gun to his head by saying “Whatever.”

So the US stat dept. tells you to shutup, and you go give an interview and lie. Kudos, bro.

How long before his endorsement contracts are cancelled?
Or are they going to fail to be renewed because the money's already been paid?
Who in their right mind would want to be associated with Lochte now? He's damaged his brand worse than if he was caught with PED.

Lochte issues an apology of sorts:
http://www.eonline.com/news/788632/r...re-responsible
It reads like a statement written by his legal team. He apologizes for the distraction and to the USOC and Brazil. He does not apologize for being a lying sack though.

Bullseye! "Helen Maroulis won the first gold medal in U.S. women's wrestling, a historically significant accomplishment. But when she won, most of the attention was not on her, or even the games. Rather, it was all on the biggest distraction of the Olympics: Ryan Lochte and the U.S. swimmers' false reporting of a crime." http://www.9news.com/sports/olympics...-win/303211927

he was the guy Dunfee helped. He's the world champion and record holder so 8th isn't great.
But that's how much that race pushes your body.
