With the 25th pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the Dallas Stars are proud to select Lucas Johansen of the Kelowna Rockets.

With the departure of Goligiski and the likely departure of at least one other UFA defence man, at least a couple defence men will be graduating from the Stars minor league system. The selection of Johansen will help fill that void. More than that, the Stars minor league system is heavy with rugged, physical defensemen, so the addition of a smooth skating, two-way defender like Johansen will help to bring it some balance.

Note, there was some table pounding when Tage Thompson came off the board.

The Washington Capitals are proud to select from the Moose Jaw Warriors Brett Howden!

We like his size speed and skill!

With the 27th pick in this year's draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning are pleased to select, from the Victoriaville Tigres in the QMJHL, forward Pascal Laberge!

Almost a coin flip between Laberge and Swedish center Rasmus Asplund, but given that the Lightning already have their fair share of smallish forwards, Laberge makes more sense at this point in my opinion. A skilled forward with high hockey IQ and decent size, Laberge can play both in the middle and on the right side and will therefore give the Lightning some valuable depth up front.

The St Louis Blues select from Finland, LW Janne Kuokkanen

(Hoping he is available for the Flames at 35)

Bruins take Markus Niemeläinen.

The 6'6'' mobile d-man is too good to pass up on and a potential Chara replacement.
