On the "If this were Harper" matter: IMO, if this were Harper, the main argument by many would be that the left-wing CBC would never run a story with a headline like that it it were a Liberal PM who carried out the act.
As for the actual incident, I'm confused...
It really does look like the minority whip is either actually being impeded in progressing into the house, or is feigning being impeded. Is there a strategic reason that would happen? Is there an actual or symbolic advantage to the opposition to delay... whatever?
Trudeau doesn't make a great decision in striding into the group, but is guiding a person by the elbow for 10 feet really a big deal? The House of Commons is notoriously raucous, something I love, and that act seems more of a faux pas that a crime to me. Anyway, this will probably be answered by the answer to the first question, but is there some actual or symbolic advantage to the Liberals to moving things along.
Finally, I see no evidence of an "elbow". IMO, the MP missing the vote on important legislation after such incidental contact, in order to exacerbate the controversy, is the most shameful part of the whole ordeal. It's Kadri-ish: Yes, you took a slash, but collapsing like you got shot and lying there like an invalid is more shameful than the opponent's transgression.

LOL, this isn't the NHL with HD slow motion replays for you to check if it was a clean check or not.

You know what, seeing the 'elbow' and the events that caused it gave more lots more respect for Trudeau. The NDP morons were clearly blocking Witt intentionally. Chances are Witt was not the only one blocked like the NDP in this way, and Trudeau decided to end the silly games himself.

Luckily I don't work in an environment where some grown men and women are acting like 5 year olds and swinging their bodies back in forth in an attempt to block government leaders from getting to their seats.

The more I watch this... the more I think Trudeau is trying to be non-partisan.
I didn't even realize he was helping the Conservative Whip, not his own party.

And of course before anyone speaks to list any possible trigger words so those people who might get triggered can leave the space during the MPs talk.

I said they all could have used a little weed today, lol. I think I'd actually pay good money to watch the entirety of the house conduct their daily parliamentary duties completely buzzed on some marijuana. They could sell it as a PPV, and solve the debt issue inside of a couple of hours, LOL.

Haha. Women can't handle hearing curse words. What year are we in? Who says cussing? Did you just arrive here in a time machine?

The thing is, the whole left aisle is wide open, did the whip have a blind spot?

Is this a defence of what they were doing? The point is, the NDP are acting child-like in a chamber which should not be that way.
If you are defending what the NDP are doing, please state your reasons.

OMG no way am I defending anybody in that daycare (Elizabeth May excepted)...there are small shenanigans everywhere.
But c'mon...I think any additional fuss over this whole incident is superfluous and only shows how over-polite Canadians are.

Perhaps, but the incident would merely be a pretext, with bad policies being the genuine reason.

Funny you should say that. Because all this took place while the Liberals were trying to table a motion of really bad and totally undemocratic policy.
