If someone is interested in helping out at a more local level:
There is currently a grass roots fundraiser started by Scouts around Canada to directly support the Ft. McMurray Scouting groups. These groups have likely lost most if not all of their camping gear, equipment, meeting spaces, etc. The fundraiser is via the sale of a specially designed embroidered badge, selling for $6,
all proceeds of which will go towards these groups getting back on their feet and feel welcomed home without the burden of them trying to fundraise to restart their groups. I have volunteered to coordinate for my area (Calgary). If you are interested in ordering / supporting, please send me a PM for more details.
