the purpose of NHLe is to project the points that can be expected in the NHL next year, based on the points posted in whatever league this year.
Using NHLe for a project, a guy that everyone agreed was going to take a while to develop, is inappropriate and misguided (or blatantly obtuse)

Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL

Yes I'm familiar with the concept just a little confused about the transition rate or whatever.
If the KHL is 83%...would it not mean that it is 17% easier to score a point in the KHL not 83% like he stated.
For example the NHLe for BCHL is .14%...so using his analogy it would be 14% easier to score in that league? I don't think so

Well, I assume that he means an NHLe of 0.83 means it's 17% easier to score in the KHL, not 83% easier.
Edit: basically what you just said, except with correct math.

With Parisi, McParland, and Gamez all on the Providence team, I'm beginning to think their equipment guy is a terrible speller but no one has the heart to tell him.

Not sure what all the hype is about. Jankowski and Gilmour are 4th liners at best.

Sorry, wasn't implying that you weren't. Yes, their explanation was poorly written and you are correct.

Well I suppose it's difficult to understand much of anything if you think both those players are forwards.

If that's what they were AT BEST, there is no reason for the Flames to sign them. Also, Gilmour playing on the 4th line is a stretch, he does play D after all.
They may end up as busts, they may only end up as a 4th line/7 D man, but they could end up as something better. The Flames obviously think there is some prospect of them turning out, so we all have to just wait and see. There is no reason to make definitive statements either way at this time and there is absolutely nothing to lose in signing them and seeing how it goes in the AHL next year.

Well seeming Gilmour is a defenceman I am thinking there is no worries of him topping out as a fourth liner

Well that's great, I'll defer to your vast hockey knowledge. The guy who predicted that Sven Baertschi would "put up more points then any Flames forward". You liked that prediction so much you doubled up on it. How'd that work out again?

My first choice would be to sign Jankowski of course, but a compensatory 2nd rounder wouldn't be the end of the world. I do think Jankowski has an uphill battle to be an impact NHLer.

Rather than respond to idiots I'm just going to talk to this concrete wall over here.
Me:Hey wall, how about Jankowski and Gilmour?
Wall: ...
Me: Yeah I know. Gilmour has some serious upside. His demeanour has always reminded me of Gio on the ice and he carries the puck with speed and confidence. Even if he tops out as a third pair D it'll be the useful kind that you want as a depth piece. Who knows, maybe he defies all conventional logic and becomes our future #4.
Wall: ...
Me: Hmm, yeah I agree, I think Jankowski's stats will shoot up in a more offensive system like ours. He's going to light it up in Stockton with Shinkaruk and Poirier.
Wall: ...
Me: It's been good, Wall.
Wall" ...
