Through 69 games last season, Sean Monahan had 51 points.

Through 69 games this season, Sean Monahan has 51 points.

Consistency.

Maybe slightly off topic here but I'm wondering why frolik is so highly regarded while colborne gets crapped on. Froliks got 1 more point and is making 5x as much but seems to be a fan favourite. I get he's on the penalty kill, but so what, we've got one of the worst pks in the nhl. Colborne is slightly younger, cheaper, and seems to be about as good?

Sorry in advance for directing another thread to colborne discussion. Was at the game tonight and frolik had a nice game.

They showed the dad holding the towel to his face. They mentioned it split his lip open a good bit and showed a clip of him trying to stop the bleeding.

Frolik does all the little details in the game that helps you win games and he rarely ever makes a mistake. His work ethic is shown on every shift and plays a complete 200ft game. Everything from his tenacity on the forecheck, backcheck, breaking up plays is done perfectly and has an offensive flair that and shows great chemistry with a lot of people on the team. Overall, a solid depth player that does everything right. These are the players that help you win championships.

I love where Monahan is on his development curve. Over the last 10 or so games, I've started to notice just how far he's come along defensively. Take tonight's game against the Blues for example, and more specifically - against Tarasenko. Rock solid 200 foot game. Very exciting as a Flames fan to have a centre with his size developing the way he is.

I've been fairly vocal in my dislike of Joe Colborne, but I'm starting to come around - mainly because I believe Colborne is starting to come around. For a long time he seemed like a player who didn't know what he was. He is incredibly ineffective and a turn over machine when carrying the puck out of his own zone, or through the neutral zone. Once in the offensive zone though - he's an effective NHL'er. Since being paired with Backlund (and at times Frolik), he's come into his own. He can rely on Backlund to do the heavy lifting, and he's out there to fill a role. It's working for him. In my eyes, Colborne has gone from a player who I was hoping would be gone in the off-season, to a guy I hope is here next year playing on the 3rd line alongside Backlund and Frolik.

Didn't watch the game but Engelland with 24:11 TOI and +4 is really interesting.
And of course, congrats to Frolik.

The difference is their games away from the puck. Colborne is coming along, but is still inconsistent from game to game at both ends of the ice. Frolik is consistently doing all the little thing correct. Both are good 3rd line guys, one is just better at both ends of the ice.

Monahan is playing outstanding this second half. If anyone still thinks he's expendable or could become expendable they need to give their heads a shake.

I will admit that a few weeks ago I was one of those guys. Very impressed with how he has been playing lately.

Couple angles of that Dougie pass for Monahan's 2nd. Ridiculous!

I don't know how anyone can say that Hamilton isn't an amazing young player who's steadily improving. To me, the kid looks like he's just getting better and better. He does still need to work on some parts of his game but IMO he's got the potential to be the #1 guy on the team in the future.

That pass by Hamilton to Monahan for his second goal was terrible and he's not that good of a player, I'm sure Ricardowd will explain why...

I knew he was a tall, good staking defenseman but he's been better offensively than I expected especially as when Hartley was forced to play him more due to the Wideman suspension he's really started to show his skills on the powerplay and on the rush. Still needs to work on the defensive game but he should be a 40-50 point defenseman for this team for a long time.

Engelland was paired with Brodie when Gio was injured last year and was very good in a top pairing role, when playing with a high level defenseman.

It's funny, a couple of games ago somebody asked that Steinberg guy what he thought of Engelland and his answer was that he thought Engelland was good this year but struggled last year (?).

Last year the team stepped up when Gio was out and Brodie-Engelland was a large part of that

If I recall, the Fleury short handed hat trick was against St. Louis as well.

I'm starting to think that we could possibly get an asset if we trade Engellend. Guy has been solid all year.

Anyone have anything to say about Agostino? At one point he could have had the puck but he froze in the corner and just stood there until he got hit. Ugly to watch
