Do we think Agostino can become an integral 3rd or 4th liner for this team or are the odds leaning towards him becoming another good AHLer that won't be able to carve out a career in the NHL? My guess is he's another Max Reinhart until I see something in his game that shows me he can be more than a good AHL player.

I hope Agostino shows a lot more in the next game... I missed the third period but he seemed kinda meh in the first and second to me.... It was his first game... maybe just trying to fit in..

I like Agostino and I hope he shows something.
I think he has the capacity to be a Dominic Moore-type player on the wing should he reach his ceiling. He seems heady out on the ice if unspectacular.

Agostino was returned to Stockton per the AHL transactions page

this must have been done prior to the game last night in order for Hamilton to play?

I would think so, as Hartley said Agostino was a healthy scratch. But how is that allowed if Freddie Hamilton was an emergency recall?
Only makes sense to me if technically Agostino was already sent back down.

Just came here to say the same thing. Maybe Brad messed this up and we have to burn a recall on Hamilton? I think we still have 3 left, so hopefully only a minor oops if so.

I didn't think he looked out of place but I also didn't see anything jump out to separate him from any of the other AHL call-ups we have seen. He needs more opportunity but the question is if he will get it with this organization.

Just curious as to why you feel that way. The Flames arguably have one of the weaker forward groups in the NHL. I agree he did little to make himself noticed but it was a small sample size. Training camp will be more telling.

Taking a while to get to 5000

The problem with Agostino is that he's average and even if he gets an extended look or plays a year there will be a younger slightly better than average player right there to take his place right away.

I thought he was starting to build some chemistry with his line mates, and he was only beginning to get his confidence in the NHL. It's a mental hurdle for some in that takes a bit of time to get used to being in the NHL and not being terrified the entire time. I'm hopeful that he can be a solid 3rd line player who can score with a decent center setting him up.

He kind of reminds me of Glencross, I think that's his ceiling.

I would be totally happy with that. As long as he has a better work ethic than Glencross.

Sure the wingers are weak but what does he add to improve the situation besides being a warm body that can step into a 3rd or 4th lie role? IMO he's more of the same of what they already have an abundance of and they need top 6 talent wingers in the forward group not bottom 6 skill wingers. I imagine they will be looking for an impact winger either via trade, draft, UFA to replace Hudler but meanwhile you have Colborne, Frolik, Bollig and Ferland likely going to be back and guys like Shinkaruk and Poirier are going to get a good look so unless he has a great showing at training camp (always possible) I just don't see where he fits in. It's kind of similar to Granlund in that they traded him not because he can't play in the NHL but that he wasn't going to be a top 6 solution which is what the team really needs.
