You mean that sloppy game against the 30th place team in the league? Where the least bad team won?

Part of me hopes Ortio gets a bulk of the games but part of me really like what Hiller brings to the teams potential draft position.

If Ortio keeps up this level of play, I'd have no issues with having him on the roster next year and going after another young goalie.

If Ortio can sustain this play for the rest of the season the team has the option of bringing him back as a low priced backup leaving more money to spend on a number one goaltender. I don't think they got good value for the $8 million they spent on 1A/1B goaltenders this season.

And we were dominated the second half of the game by an AHL quality roster.

I must've missed the bits where the Isles put on some pressure because I have no idea when/how they racked up 30+ shots.

It's too bad that the Flames don't seem to get rewarded nearly as much this year. I guess it balances out. And when they have been able to find the net, the goaltending would capsize and it's a 5-4 loss instead.

It seems in theory, a goalie and a big scoring RW would take this team a long, long way. Fingers crossed that both are checked off by draft day.
The Flames should have won their last two games. In both games I thought they were the better team but they weren't getting the favourable bounces.

I'll take Lou over Kent Wilson every day of the week. Overreliance on stats for Mr. Wilson, don't like his work at all and don't find it very illuminating at all. Lou on the other hand is a knowledgable hockey guy, I respect his opinions.

I attended the game and it was pretty entertaining. I thought Calgary controlled play for the most part. The score flattered the Isles, and especially the shots on goals. Even though they were pretty even, I thought much of them were from the outside and they just couldn't seem to have any sustained pressure in the Flames' zone. Calgary should have won.

3 fights. A lot of display of team toughness. Ortio with some great saves. Flames deserved better. I'll also say that Matt Martin was a beast all night. Our entire section was fixed on him. Maybe because of his hair. But I thought Calgary could use a player like him.

If you were in section 227, I'd like to give a shoutout to the guy who wore a poncho. He absolutely stunk like campfire and BO. He wore this long draping poncho and was completely out of place. Everyone noticed his smell and when questioned about his bathing habits, he said he'd been camping for a week straight and only came in today to watch the game. He probably hadn't showered in that time. He disappeared during the 2nd intermission, but my buddy said he saw him in the washroom lineup and there was a circle of people around him laughing at something he was saying.

Kicked out or not, you were hilarious poncho.

Loumbardias knows a lot of players and has watched a lot of players. When it comes to analysis, what does a player offer, I have a hard time thinking of something Loubardias has offered that is relevant. He will tell you a guy comes from a good family, or has good character, or played for Dougie Gilmour in Kingston, ok but from my perspective that's all fluff.

Hiller just seems way more committed to the rebuild.

My take on him as well. He knows a LOT about players like more than anyone I've ever heard but IMO he's way too positive for his opinion to matter. He only has good things to say about players. If you believed every word he said every junior player would be an NHLer.

He was very good in the AHL last year and was pretty good in his call up as well. You don't go from that to complete crap in one offseason.

Hard not to grip the goalie stick too hard when you know one bad performance may see you a month in the press box or demotion to the farm.

Hiller has been so bad that Ortio doesn't have to worry for the first time ever. Even if Bob prefers the vet guys, he now has no choice but to roll with Orts. And he's showing us what he can do with a bit of a safety net and some confidence.

Good game, fights, end to end action. I knew Ortio was better than his first game in. He's been solid last 2 starts.
