So many unforced errors in that first set. She already looks defeated. Let's see what she can do in the second set.

Tough result for Genie, but Cornet was certainly up to the task. Despite the loss, this is good news for her going forward, especially into the Australian Open.

I set the wrong Sportsnet channel to record the match, oh well, based on the score, it likely wasn't worth viewing anyway.

Question for scheduling experts here:
Does a player playing their first round match on day 1 mean they will play all their subsequent matches on days 3,5,7 etc?
Basically I have quarterfinal (day and night session) tickets for the second day (day 10 overall) but see Federer is playing day 1. Do I have no chance of seeing him? Thanks for any info!

Sadly you do not have any chance to see him. Potential QFs for Day 10 would be Nadal/Kevin Anderson vs. Wawrinka/Milos and Ferrer/Isner vs. Andy. Day 9 gets Novak and Roger. Draw didn't break your way unfortunately.

As for Genie the big issues for her bubbled up to the surface again last night (poor serve, attitude). She is hitting the ball much better than for most of last year, but still won't be able to get back into the top 20 until she can solve or at least mitigate her big issues. Also still needs to develop more variety in the game, it's still a little too easy to play against her tactically.

Thanks for the confirmation! Luckily the quarters aren't sold out yet so hopefully we can buy the first day as well and attempt to sell the second.

Pospisil and Bouchard both on Court 2 tonight! Live on TSN4
http://www.ausopen.com/en_AU/scores/schedule/
I estimate Pospisil around 7:30pm tonight and Bouchard after midnight.

Not the same, I was at the US Open, but I will share anyways.
When I went we wanted confirmed tickets for some events but we likely overpaid in advance. It was still fun, as we had first row in Armstrong for the Williams sisters.
But in addition to that we bought 3 sets of tickets last minute on resellers after we knew the match ups. Got to see the marathon match between Raonic and Nishikori (bought while on layover in Toronto on the way down about 6 hours before the match) and a few other good ones. If you are targeting certain players it might be best to wait and grab them last minute.

Cool thanks for the advice. The resell marketplace worked well getting us last minute seats for Fed and Stosur tonight! If our quarter tickets sell we'll likely try to see Roger again later on.

The cache of documents passed to the BBC and Buzzfeed News include the findings of an investigation set up in 2007 by the ATP
Secret files exposing evidence of widespread suspected match fixing at the top level of world tennis, including at Wimbledon, can be revealed by the BBC and BuzzFeed News.
Over the last decade 16 players who have ranked in the top 50 have been repeatedly flagged to the tennis integrity unit over suspicions they have thrown matches.
All of the players, including winners of Grand Slam titles, were allowed to continue competing.
The Tennis Integrity Unit - set up to police the sport - said it had a zero-tolerance approach to betting-related corruption.
The cache of documents passed to the BBC and Buzzfeed News include the findings of an investigation set up in 2007 by the organising body, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

A group of whistle blowers inside tennis, who wanted to remain anonymous, recently passed the documents on to the BBC and Buzzfeed News. We contacted Mark Phillips, one of the betting investigators in the 2007 enquiry, who told the BBC they discovered there was repeated suspicious betting activity about a clear group.
"There was a core of about 10 players who we believed were the most common perpetrators that were at the root of the problem."
He has never spoken publicly before about the material he gathered, which he said was as powerful as any he had seen in over 20 years as a betting investigator.

Sloane Stephens on her way out. Keys passed her as best young American long ago but Sloane just never developed much. Hopefully Genie doesn't become like her.
