The goalie option for the Flames that intrigues me is Jonathan Bernier. With Leafland all a twitter over Garret Sparks and with Bernier due to come off his conditioning stint in the AHL in another week - Leaf management have a big goalie decision to make. Bernier is only 27 and I still believe has potential to be a solid #1 - it just seems he has never adjusted well to the Toronto media circus and scrutiny. Not sure how Treliving could pull this off but a Bernier in Flames silks intrigues me.

Two things I heard tonight that I haven't heard in a long time. "Flames power play goal", and "Raymond wins the battle on the boards".

I guess so, but good enough isn't going to work long term. Seems like the team always needs to score 3 or more to win a game.

Even tonight, I thought Ramo played ok, but didn't think he was great. He still lost his net on several occasions, and got real lucky. Could have been a backbreaking goal had he knocked that one goal into the net instead of it hitting the post. His dmen bailed him out a couple times too. I thought for sure he was going to let in at least another goal in the 3rd.

Gio Brodie were excellent tonight.

Johnny's non-assist was beautiful.

Nice to get some secondary scoring.

All-around full team effort tonight.

I don't think anyone would try and make a case for him being the starting goalie of the future but he is giving the team a chance most nights now. Thats all people were asking for a month ago.

Ramo hugged the post like an NHL caliber goalie just now. Colour me impressed!
He's still not good enough to be a long term solution. But I'm certainly not taking away what was really this first total solid game from Ramo this year, tonight.

I get it, you Ramo lovers just love to love him and get all uppity whenever other folks voice their own different personal thoughts. But hey! The Flames won and Ramo had a good game! Lets get Smug!

We all know he is not a long term solution unless he decides he wants to play like tonight every night. It's not smug to give credit where credit is due. Its a business of what have you done for me lately. Lately he has been good so give hime credit there. I wouldnt be sad if both goalies are replaced tomorrow. I really don't give 2 ####s who plays in a Flames uniform at the end of the day. As long as Flames are winning games. #### Don cherry and Ron McLean could be the coaches with the Flames top of the division. All I care about is how many Ws the team has.

What #1 goalie can the Flames find before the draft? Ramo is our guy for the season. I agree that we are goalie shopping. It's a known fact that the Flames were goalie shopping at the draft.

It's not like the Flames didn't know they need a goalie.

All that said remember Ramo was good enough to go the KHL championship series.

He was one of the best in the khl with an average of .920 sv % . not that that means anything #### all now but he can play and during a rebuild you really just need an average goalie to play.

It's year 3 of a waayyy overdue rebuild. He's not the solution to win you a cup but He will do for now.

Expections people. Remember only year 3 if this was year 5 or 6 then I'd have my pitch fork out to.

Wow. A more than solid win and all some posters can do is complain about Ramo, Raymond on the power play, and the Stajan line getting ice time. The whole team played very well IMO. Including the whipping boys.

Looking forward to eating more Mac and Cheese.
Delicious indeed, since you talked about it in the pregame thread I made it a mission to try some. I'll hold down the cheese fort till you're back!

Johnny was robbed. Should have had a (beautiful) point in this. None of that play should've been allowed to develop but the refs let it go.. oh well. A savvy challenge I guess.

Dare I say Brodano and Hudler are back?

Not much to say since we've been seeing Flames of old the past 3 games (I actually think they played well in the 5-2 loss in SJ and started to see shades of turnaround, but I digress) ... but this one is really bothering me. I can't remember seeing a player get cheap shotted as much as Gaudreau does, granted I don't watch a lot of games. Maybe early on on Crosby in his career?

I'm pretty sure we're gonna look back and see these 3 games as the big turnaround.
3 wins in a row against..the stars, bruins and sharks? Obviously it doesn't mean we're not gonna lose and it's not gonna be hard, I'm just saying this is when the belief became real again.
Honestly we all knew to expect some regression, stats and every person around said so. At the same time you'd expect Frolik, Bennett, Hamilton and a better JH to offset that regression.
Nobody should of expected them to play as awful as they have.
Maybe in another division they would of played themselves out of a spot but that doesn't mean they're as bad as they were playing, in an overall sense.
Things had to even out eventually and it just so happens we're not totally screwed out of a spot so that makes everything all so much easier to bare and more motivating for the team.
They're a better team then last season and it's about time they start showing that and believing it.

...minus goaltending. That's just a story on its own. Ramo just please keep doing good

Tough series of games coming up for the Flames, especially the road trip. I predict we will be in a playoff spot by the end of December

Gaudreau walking the sharks on that off-side play was unreal:

Agree with the notion there needs to be some retribution for the slashes Johnny takes. That blatant one tonight was outright cowardly. Can't contain him so you need to give him that big of a cheap shot? Chicken ##### play.

Exactly. I just wanted Engelland to charge across the ice and maul Burns for doing that. I don't care about the penalty or the misconduct. It is happening way too often to gaudreau with no repercussions from the team or the refs. I believe that good teams tend to find ways to rally and kill off "good" penalties like ones where a guy sticks up for a young teammate. Especially with a two goal lead late in the game like tonight.

Slashes like that are vicious and happen to Johnny at least once per game. He is going to break something one day if something isn't done about it. People can argue jumping the culprit won't deter players from doing it but it would at the very least draw attention to it. It's going uncalled so often by referees that an overreaction by the team itself is the only way to wake them up to it. The flames should absolutely maul anyone that takes shots like that on gaudreau. After a few games of that... Maybe game supervisors and refs would finally start noticing slashes on gaudreau and would make sure a penalty is called for it before things get out of hand.
