There were 11 rookies in the line-up
The defense corp was:
Engelland
Schlemko
Potter
Wotherspoon
Ramage
Kulak
two of whom were playing their first (and likely only) NHL game.
And as someone else mentioned, Ortio was playing his first game post injury, after being off for weeks.
Hard to even call that an NHL game.
Edit: NONE of the top 9 scorers on the team were dressed (Hudler, Gaudreau, Monahan, Wideman, Giordano, Brodie, Bouma, Russell or Jones)

90% of the reason I hate the Jets is all the hype TSN gives them. It's disgusting. Their fans are placed on a pedestal and are held to a higher standard than other fanbases for some reason.

A reason, TSN owns their TV rights.

I know, but it doesn't make the Jets love any less annoying.

Yes it was an exhibition game.
The Flames that played in that game but not in the playoffs... Kulak, Ortio, Poirier and Ramage.
The Jets playing that game and not in the playoffs:
Copp, Ellerby,Harrison, Hutchinson, Galiardi Copp and Ellerby only NHL game of the year.

Don't be so daft.
The Flames played more than twice as many games in the playoffs with considerably more injuries. Those replacements come from somewhere.

Born in the 60's, Flames fan since 1980-81, and never really hated the Jets or their fans. The Oilers, on the other hand, are a whole different story.
I wanted to beat the Jets, but never hated them. I felt bad for their fans when they lost their team and celebrated when they got another one. If the Flames aren't the next Canadian team to win the Cup, it wouldn't mind if the Jets are.

And please don't misinterpret my post as a request to refrain from being optimistic. In fact, I was thinking today about the new deck I am building for my backyard and I am very optimistic how it will turn out. So optimistic in fact that I am enjoying telling my neighbors how ugly their yards look. Or maybe I don't understand what optimistic means.
Anyway I get that sports rivalries are different and sports is by nature competitive but questioning when our rivals will be able to compete with us is maybe a little premature. Two of the three finished with more points than us this year so they seem to be competing OK so far.

The poll question is: "Who will compete with the Flames soonest?"
sort of like "Who will compete with the Hawks soonest?"
The implication of that question is that the Flames have arrived and who is the next team that will get to their level.
Why was the poll added to the Jets thread?
I think that after reading most of the comments there are a lot of Flames fans like me that are guardedly optimistic. Things have been going really really well for the Flames over the last year.... Think it is the start of a solid contender but kind of afraid that 2014-15 and the 2015 off season is a perfect storm sort of like the Avs had in 2013-14.

Our family immigrated to Canada in the winter of 1981. The city we moved to was Winnipeg, and after living here for 3 months my father moved us out of the "winter hellhole" that was Winnipeg to Calgary.
Winterpeg is no good.

Actually, it's like "who will compete with the Flames soonest" and not anything else. I don't know why you think its elevating the Flames to the Hawks' level.
I suspect the poll was in the Jets thread because that's the most likely answer.
As for Avs comparisons, the Avs relied on hot goaltending which coooled off. The Flames didn't (quite the opposite as a matter of fact). Plus the Flames have improved their roster in places where it counts. The Avs didn't IMO (sorry Jarome).
