I think the team wants to maintain a high standard for retiring numbers and doesn't want to come out and say "these guys don't deserve it."
I personally think that the minimum standard for retiring numbers should be: 8+ seasons with team, win cup, high caliber player.

He may have said that, but I predict that it's a policy that doesn't last. Similar to Burke's number thing.

I agree with Bax and Tex. There should be a two-tier honoring system, and I hope KK realizes that. I would literally be embarrassed if Iggy's number was not retired.

Some people are a easy sell for a salesman, that is what he is
My reasoning in my post states my view on the article

I feel like if the Flames wanted to, they could still raise #12 in the white banner format and get away with it regardless of what KK has said about the Forever a Flame program.

The point is that according to current Flames policy, NO ONE, no matter how legendary will get more than a FAF ceremony. The organization views it as an equal honour to number retirement, no matter how insane that idea is.

On the no high numbers thing, thank jebus. That was absolute stupidity. On the number retirement thing, I agree with Bingo, Macinnis #2 should have been retired before anyone else (after Lanny). Vernon was a nostalgia pick for that honour that I don't have a great deal of objection to, but shouldn't have happened before Macinnis. Nieuwendyk is probably my favourite Flames player of all time, but I'm on the fence whether he should have his number retired. He basically screwed the team. As did Gilmour. Fleury is his own worst enemy in this regard and probably will never get his number retired, nor will he get into the hall of fame for the similar reasons.
Jarome is, on the other hand an absolute shoe in for number retirement. No Brainer. Best Player we ever had (and might ever have). If they choose not to retire #12, that would be a despicable oversight.
My opinion.

Maybe, but will they? KK is in charge of this stuff and his policy is that FAF is the highest honour the Flames give out.

Answered that in the other thread, they wouldn't have two different banners. They changed Lanny's for a reason and there's no reason why they wouldn't change it again and make them the same if it was the same.
to keep the topic in one thread, I'm no longer posting in this thread about the topic, feel free to respond in the other if you wish to continue but quoting this one will just continue to derail
