I'm hoping it's a $35M-ish contract between 5-7 years

Have you seen Burke lately? He is on his retirement lap enjoying having a younger more energetic staff running around, running the hockey while he drinks beer in the pressbox.

5:00pm ET is the deadline for teams to provide them to the players. By 3:30pm MT, we should know if the Flames or any other teams didn't qualify anyone.

Of course he oversees it in the end. He'll take his opinion and let him know what he's about to do but there's no way he's running back n forth to Burke during his negotiations.
Trei is running day-to-day operations not Burke. No wonder other fans think that when our own believe in this misconception.

I do think this is an important contract as it definitely will pave the way for Monahan, Gaudreau, etc.
In regards to an offersheet. I don't think there is to much we won't laugh at and match. If a GM does go higher then thanks for the picks. Treliving would essentially turned a first and 2 seconds into 2 firsts, a second and a third (or if a GM goes really crazy 5 firsts).
I can't see an offer coming in where the AAV is up to 6.7 where the Flames don't match (6.7 is the upper threshold for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd comp).
It will be interesting to see if the Flames go bridge contract on this to set the precedent as Treliving is similar to Burke where he strongly supports those bridge deals.

Don't be naive. Burke doesn't do anything without the blessing of Murray Edwards, who we all know is whipped by Heather Edwards. No trade is done without Heather Edwards being directly involved.

Heather Edwards is also a Buddhist, so technically Buddha runs the Flames.
Flames win the cup, we are all enlightened.

That's probably what worries Treliving the most. He can't overpay Hamilton and not expect Monahan and Gaudreau to want the same type of deal. Giordano as well.

Maybe it is hamilton that says: I will look to all OS July 1st and the best can be matched by the Flames. The bruins know that matching is impossible for them, so decided to trade him for more than the 1st 2nd and 3rd (OS compensation)
Flames have the cap space but that contract will be huge.. hopefully i am wrong and he signs in a few minutes.

Yup. Not only would I be nervous about an offer sheet but also nervous about his demands and potential attitude.

His attitude is fine. His agent would be controlling the negotiations, so that's who's attitude if be worried about

I came in here to quote your post, good work out there. An accurate assessment of Treliving's wizardry.
