TB has an unreal amount of young talent on that team... i'd be interested to see if that (or who) was due to Steve Yzerman... he was a bit of a wild card when he was hired, but TB has done pretty darn well under his leadership...

Indeed. One of many, many examples proving tanking is not the answer. Good management and scouting is the answer.
Blows my mind still that Oiler fans used to call the Flames stupid for chasing the dream and not just giving up for higher draft pick. Heck, they even did it this year on HF boards saying how they'd rather draft 1st than be in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Ha.

To be fair I'd rather draft first than be a ninth place team with no good prospects.

In regards to this year, Oilers fans will tell themselves whatever they need to, to feel better about the Flames highlighting what a crappy team and rebuild they've had.
As for previous years, the Flames were absolutely stupid for continuing to chase it with the old guard from 2010 on when half way through that season it became clear that our core at the time had past it and wasn't going to be enough to win. Anyone who critiques the Flames for waiting anytime between 2010 to 2013 before starting the rebuild is bang on. Wasted efforts and diminishing returns on the likes of Iginla by waiting so long to trade and tare it down did not help this franchise. Our success this year was in-spite of 3 years of bad decisions by this team, and all on the back of the really good decisions they've made in the past 2 or so.

I'm a little late, but the penalty St. Louis got in the 1st was absolutely ludicrous. He's stationary and gets run into by the Tampa player, but because he doesn't fall, he gets the interference penalty.
I'm one of the guys calling for more penalties, but calls like that have no basis in this game.

Stamkos scores in the second period to tie the game. Later on, the Rangers score a pair of goals in under two minutes. Yandle's goal was a weird deflection off Hedman, 3-1 Rangers after two periods.

St. Louis gives the Rags a 3 goal lead.
I hope they can come back and win this series. Lundqvist is the only guy that could stop the Ducks.

No-show on results, but they completely dominated the second and somehow came away down two.
Lundquist made some huge saves in the second.

Pretty fast paced game so far. Lots of end-to-end olay. Lightning tried the Ted Nolan/Latvia trick play and got busted for too much man.

That was very fast. Hughson mentioned that it only took 31:50 to complete the period! Tampa Bay has a 6-4 edge in shots.

This game is absolutely flying, 5 minutes left in the 2nd and we've only had about 75 minutes of real time, including the intermission. Tampa with a lot of bad calls against it but have the lead anyway.

Lundqvist had ZERO chance on that second goal.

That is some ridiculously nice passing on that goal. What a ridiculous power play with Stamkos, Hedman, Johnson, Kucherov and Palat.

That was an impressive road game for the Lightning. They played a great game. Interested to see if they can close it out at home in game 6.

So much for Stamkos being a playoff choker.
