I'd have no issue dealing 15th, Granlund or Klimchuk and the 2nd to get into the top 10. I still think we will get a good propsect at 15 but the odds of getting an elite talent in the top 10 is much higher. There definitely is a drop off in talent at our position. We are stocked quite well with depth players and could use some higher end prosects. Provorov and Werenski would be awesome. Even if their gone there should still be a really quality forward available.
I seriously think Provorov will be this years draft's Rielly. I suspect many GMs are high on him and I wouldn't be surprised if he is the first defenseman taken in the draft.
Unfortunately for the Flames the price may be high for moving up to 10, but I think the Flames will have some good options at 15, so I think they should draft more based on need. Hopefully it's a defenseman like Chabot, but I wouldn't be opposed to them drafting someone like Meier or Svechnikov. Even Zacha if he falls to 15.
Heh, going to have to start perusing the draft rankings and reading up on players finally.
What a nice change this season. Normally by now we've already spent 3 months lamenting over what our final draft position will be, and a couple months settling on who we all hope the Flames select at that position......all because there is nothing to cheer for on the ice.
Now that the Flames season is finally done, the draft is only 1.5 months away.
Nice.

Just one guys opinion but Pronman sees the drop offs at 5 and 20. Based on that one would not pay a huge price to go from 15 to 10. He's got Provorov at 14, Kylington at 15, Bracco at 16, and Sprong at 17

I see the same drop off around 22. There isn't much difference from 5-10 and not much difference from 11-22. It mostly depends on what type of guy you're looking for. Most of them are average size with above average skill. A couple of shorter guys with higher end talent.
it probably wouldn't cost as much to move up to 11 or 12 as some might think, but there also isn't a huge incentive to do so because there isn't a huge difference in talent between a guy like Meier and a guy like Svechnikov. It might actually be better to slide a few spots if they've got their eyes on a guy like Sprong or Kylington.

You think he would be drafted before Hanifin? I just can't see it Hanafin is getting massive hype for a couple years
What happened to Kylington? He was once considered top 5-10 but in some mocks I see him going 20-30th
He didn't elevate his game and was just okay in a couple of tournaments. That doesn't mean that he's not a slick offensive D-man, but some people question if he's hit his ceiling
Even with those issues I'd have no problem with the Flames picking him. He was the guy I was hoping they'd get before this season when it was looking like they were going to pick in the 4-8 range.

Ideally, if there's a right handed forward around the BPA realm at the Flames spot, I would like for him to be selected. The team is in need for more right handed firepower.

Sprong.

Nik Merkley is a very skilled right handed shooting forward and has been playing on the wing, and a Calgary kid to, likely headed to the Memorial Cup. He's not the biggest guy out there so not sure if his size will turn teams away, but he is projected as a first rounder.
